Little Beauty, 10 Jan 2009
This really is a fantastic little clock radio. I'd been looking for a DAB alarm clock for the bedroom for some time, this met all the requirements. I'm most impressed with the reception on the DAB radio; I'm in a marginal area, so didn't have high hopes for the small stringy aerial. Once plugged in it tuned to most stations perfectly, and then proceeded to set the clock by itself too. No more having to reset if the power goes off or having to adjust for daylight saving. The speaker seems very good for a unit of this size. The alarm is nice and kind, gentle to begin with, increasing if you don't respond (!). You can also wake up to DAB or FM radio and there's a useful feature allowing you to set different alarms for weekdays and weekends. There's also a sleep feature so you can doze off to radio. There's an input for your MP3 player, though I haven't got round to using it yet. It claims to use very little energy, although this wasn't my primary purpose for getting it. The dimmer is adjustable on the clock face, which is just aswell as anything but the dimmest setting would be too bright for nightime. Oh, and it looks lovely too, taking up little space. All in all, I'm well pleased with it.

Great looking clock, good sound and set up with ease straight out of the box. What a disappointment then that however we tried, the DAB radio came on at volume 9 (loud!)when set as the alarm wake up. The instructions state that the radio alarm volume will come on at the volume that it is left set at when turned off. Clearly not the case with this one. Contacted Roberts technical help, frankly useless, who suggesting that this was how it was or that there was a software fault. Sent back for full refund, will probably not try this clock again, which is unfortunate as its one of the nicest looking we have seen - bit of a let down Roberts!

Roberts Ecologic-6 My own little luxury!, 25 Feb 2009
The first thing I noticed when I got the Eco 6 out of the box was that this clock radio was a little smaller than I had imagined it would be, not that it matters much, it stands about 4 ¼" tall, rising to about 5 ½" at the back. The clock looks great when lit up, and looks real quality. It adjusted the time immediately that I connected the power, magic! and whilst the radio is still turned off the top display shows the time and date. The Dab radio scans automatically for channels, and it finds them easily, even though it is using just a small wire aerial that hangs from the rear. Also the Fm radio is just as easy to set up, provided you follow the instructions, and you can preset ten stations on both bands. The sound quality is excellent for such a small machine and I was really surprised at how good all the old un`s sounded on london gold............ I expected it to sound more like the rubbish sound we are used to from the Medium wave band! But even these old songs sound vibrant and exciting. One minus point that I noticed was that, unless you can remember the exact positions of the buttons from memory, you will not be able to operate the Eco 6 without your light on, as the buttons are not illuminated! Fortunately I could (just) remember, and was able to set the sleep function, by touch. The Eco 6 boasts a humane wake up on the alarm, but I was expecting the first wave of alarm beeps to be much lower than they were, and it could definitely wake up anyone else in the bedroom, who was not expecting an alarm, I was a little disappointed about that. The dimmer can be adjusted for the radio off position and also separately for the radio on position, I think that all of the adjustments are useful. There is an auxiliary input at the rear, for an mp3 player etc. The power is supplied from a small transformer built into the plug, this stays remarkably cool. The alarm can be set to wake you to either Dab Fm or beeper. There are lots of different display settings for the Dab radio, but to be honest, I will not be bothered to change it from the scrolling setting that displays song name etc. (if broadcast) All in all I am well pleased with this purchase, the radio sounds great, the reception is very good, and the Ecologic 6 looks real class. Highly Recommended.
