Product Description

100% Uncut , DVD/RC2 , English and German Audio. George Miller is a timid, gentle, introvert Manic depressive failed artist, who's grown so sick of his faults and livelihood (consisting of painting macabre stuff) supporting his sad rather pathetic lonely living, that one Halloween night, decides to end his life by jumping from the top of the inner-city fleabag motel he calls home. Somewhere across town, at the exact same moment Vito Minelli a somewhat small-time mobster is fatally finding out what happens to those who don't pay off their gambling debts, as his embittered fellow hoodlums, let him have it by making him eat lead, blow out his kneecaps in the process before finishing him off by dousing gasoline over him, followed by setting him on fire. Barely surviving George recovers after three months only to slowly discover his continuing to enjoy breathing oxygen was due to Vito, possessing him at precise point of death, and now Vito is homing inside of him, bidding his time, until the moment George sleeps and like a parasite, Vito uses his unwilling host to go out into the night preying on his murderers with his new found telepathic powers. As George struggles to understand what is happening and how to stop it, Vito is relishing his vengeance on his betrayers and slayers, but further antagonized by George's resisting and interferences from others, ensures that Vito is soon turning his rage on others outside of those who ended his life...which is far from good for George...or anyone else who gets close to him. (Worth catching to see a before he was famous Tony Cox, the familiar face of Dennis Lipscomb and the late sort-of-great Hoyt Axton)

I first got this movie out on VHS a long time ago and I was absolutely stunned by it. I have a copy now of my own on a rare German Dvd release, which was uncut, so I got the full version after all this time, and I'm so glad I did.
For anyone who is a fan of the supernatural, and loves these kinds of films, this has to be a must for your collection. It took me a long time to get a hold of this, several years infact, before it was even available on Dvd, and it was a crime that it was not in my collection. It is now. The performances are terrific throughout, but the real star of the show is the lead character, who gets to be both the good and the bad guy, although I don't think he's really bad at all. He's just out for revenge, and who can blame him? The story is very clever, but really rather simple and it's the strength of that and the fact that the script is top notch that also holds up as one of its many strengths. Another one of its many plusses is Leslie Wing, the cute and sexy young psyciatrist who is assigned to his case. I haven't seen much of Leslie since then, but maybe that's not such a bad thing, because I simply prefer to enjoy her time and time again in this!
The film does not have a happy ending, these films can get away with that, because they are horror flicks of course, but it makes it all the better, and tragic lead, George Miller (Dennis Lipscombe) begins the film by attempting suicide because of his failure as an artist, so he isn't exactly set up as the strongest guy in the world, you always knew he would buy it. The effects are brilliant too, in a nutshell, it's just a very good overall package. Terribly underrated too, even though it was apparently a UK box office hit.
To put it simply, a cracking supernatural shocker that I never forgot. Thanks to Germany for releasing it uncut!

Why no DVD?

You know, looking at the cover of this VHS tape you'd think you were in for a pretty bad nights entertainment. But surprisingly, I found this to be excellent.

It's a story of possession... a guy tries to commit suicide, but is saved by medics. After months of recuperation he is released back home... but then there's a string of violent murders in town.....

This was released in 87, and if you like 80's horror it's simply a must have. The gore is pretty good, the clothes fantastic, and I was entertained throughout. This was made back in the days where the only make up you needed was to light the eyes up (green was a favorite) - but don't let the cheesy aspects put you off.

It's nothing new, but it's nicely executed and has plenty of blood letting. Improbable relationships, funky music... and black man called Rasta round out a superb feature.

Great - sadly I can't find it on DVD.

Remember seeing this in the 80s thought it was brilliant then and still think so now, its about a guy who tries to commit suicide and somehow his soul crosses paths with a crooks who is murdered in a gangland style killing.. When hes asleep a supernatural evil side takes over for revenge... although done on what looks like a low budget it keeps you interested and the effects arent bad either if you're a horror lover this is worth a watch had it on vhs, now dvd very hard to get hold off, hopefully it will get released on bluray one day.

I loved this film. For a low budget movie, you would've thought it wasn't low budget one. Best one I've seen for ages. Anyway the acting, the story the script was engaging, graphic gore scenes, I really felt for the lead character and was with him in all he desired. I didn't expect the twist at the end. An excellent horror film that's snuck under radar, as being up there with I spit on your grave, mothers day.

This is a good film, but it said it was with English and German audio, but it was only in German. This was very annoying.
