We already own two Pure radios but wanted to be able to play CDs as well as listen to DAB radio, in the kitchen.

The Pure Legato II is a stunning gloss black colour. Very shiny with a silver front to the main unit. When playing CDs the CD slot is surrounded with a blue light. Also, when playing music stored on the SD card (not supplied) the SD card slot glows. Very futuristic.

We have been able to program the unit to record a radio programme automatically onto an SD card.

A 4 GByte SD card enables us to copy a large number of CDs on a computer then play them back on the Pure Legato with a very good sound quality.

The only critisism I have is the manual. Not the best I have read but fortunately the system itself has a good menu function.

Sound quality on DAB radio is superb. On FM, not quite as good but we live in a rural area with poor signal strength.

If you want a DAB radio that plays CDs, look no further

I bought this product because it looked good and seemed packed with useful functions. I am on my fifth machine (customer service is excellent and machines get replaced promptly) but this one is now out of guarantee.

My main complaints are: the background hum when the machine is on standby, the unreliablity of the recording function and the disappearance of the epg even when the signal is 100%. Even trivial things like the CD eject having to be peformed manually because the remote doesn't work on this button begin to irk on such an expensive machine.

To sum up a great looking (and sounding) machine but let down by internal electronics

ordered the legato ii and set it all up, great, came down the next morning and it wouldn't work!! phoned up amazon returns and within 10 minutes we had printed off a returns ticket and arranged a pick up with the courier. within the hour i had an e-mail telling me that a new unit would be delivered by first class delivery and it was, received it the day after, that is service, thanks amazon.
i have had the replacement unit for 4 days now and it is brilliant, i've had other cheaper dab radios and finding your way around the staion menu has always been a nightmare but this one is simple and intuitive, you can jump from radio 2 to smooth or whatever very easily. mine plays cds very easily and because there is a built in programme guide for the more popular stations recording to the sd card is very easy, i've recorded 3 radio plays and a couple of documentaries already, now i just have to work out how to get them transferred onto my mp3 player. overall the sound is excellent, not top hi-fi but hey, it's for the kitchen or conservatory not the concert hall!! only minus i have is that the various buttons on the front of the unit are 'spread out' a bit, i would have like them to be closer together but still well pleased.
