CD Description

'Rocking Horse' is the third album from former Sneaker Pimps vocalist Kelli Ali. Written on an acoustic guitar whilst travelling through Mexico and California in 2005, Ali returned to the studio in March 2008 and enlisted the help of composer Max Ritcher as producer. Keeping the simple acoustic sound that inspired the original songs, Ali embraces the psych-folk of Joanna Newsom and Devendra Banhart, creating a unique album that greatly contrasts with her previous work.

I have had this CD for two weeks now and have played it at least 20 times.A very mellow disc with subtle but varied music,good songs and Kelli's wonderful voice.A gentle classic that keeps growing with every listen.

On holiday in Northern Spain in 2008 a friend had brought their i-pod which happened to have a copy of Becoming X on. It had been 10 years since I last heard it and it brought back great memories. The music is unforgettable and more so because of Kelli Ali's voice. It was all the more dramatic because of the mountains outside and an electrical storm.

Decided to do some research and found out Kelli had just recorded and released Rocking Horse.

It has restored my jaded faith in music and would highly recommend it.

How would I describe the music and Kellis' voice - haunting, strange, enigmatic I could go on but the only way to experience it is to listen to the album yourself you will not be disappointed.
