Finding fame in the1960s, Christie is known for being a unique performer amongst his peers and this has won him a whole new generation of fans. Singing songs written by Sheffield songwriters - including Richard Hawley (who also co-produced the record), Jarvis Cocker and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) - this is a warm and sumptuous record with real character. Includes the songs 'Cole's Corner' and 'Louise'.

This beautifully crafted album will almost certainly become a 'Classic' for generations to come. It's honest to the core and lovingly conceived. So many stand out tracks to single any one out, but you must at the very least download 'Born To Cry', 'Only Ones Who Know', 'All I Ever Care About Is You' and 'Louise'. The latter being probably the best thing to happen in the history of music!!

There's a bit too much sycophancy about this album that I just don't like. Yeah, it's ageing Tony Christie's turn to be rediscovered. He's teamed up with Richard Hawley and cut some (good) songs from some of Sheffield's finest.

So let's cut to the chase. First of all, it's a 'crooners' album. This is Christie's forte. If you're looking for an album of this genre, then this is certainly for you. Good production all round. If you're intending on buying it because the media are falling over themselves to tell everyone that this is a superb album. I would certainly suggest listening to a few tracks first before committing.

It is NOT a superb album, it is an 'aquired taste'. It's a good album, if you like this sort of style.

Don't fall for the hype. It will only end up on ebay or in some record shop's '2nd hand' section very quickly.

Tony Christie,the little guy with the big voice,pays tribute to the musical talent of Sheffield with this stunning album.The first track,a cover of The Artic Monkeys,'Only the ones who know' is transformed from a rather uninspiring tune into a beautiful melodic ballad by combining a great musical arrangement with strong vocals.
Guy Barker on trumpet and Colin Elliot on piano are excellent on the Human League song 'Louise'.Barely recognisable,it is slowed down to a tender love song guaranteed to soften even the hardest of hearts.
Pick of the album,and current single,'Born to cry,is a masterpiece delivered with such passion against a haunting guitar,this has the potential to be a Christie classic.
If you want to hear songs like 'Amarillo',don't bother with this album.If,however,you want to hear what Tony Christie can really sound like,then this is the album for you.
