The brilliant Aiden Gillen plays a doctor, Karl, who has lost his wife and is devoted to his daughter. While staying in his town centre flat he gets into a lift. Also in the lift or elevator as they say in America is a young asthmatic girl who is desperate to see her grandmother who is in hospital and a young man who has just done something life changing and is about to leave the country.

They all have a reason to spend as little time as possible in this lift and then it breaks down between floors. It is also the holiday season and most people have left for vacations and the building is more or less empty. Whilst they assume it is only a matter of time before help arrives it soon transpires that one of them is a bit of a serial killer.

Now this is a very good film, but it does seem to have something missing and that might be a third of it. According to IMDB this has a run time of 120 minutes and this was reduced to 81 minutes for the DVD which is the version I streamed. It has some fine acting, Gillen being particularly effective in his mood swings, but at times the drama seems to jump ahead and this may well be down to editing. On the other hand it could have been that the full version was interminably long - hence the edit. All in all a six out of ten film, but fans of Gillen will want to see this if only for his performance.

Firstly, this is not a horror film, it is a thriller. Do not expect blood and gore, this is more chilling and makes you think about what you would do if you were to find yourself stuck in a lift with two other strangers. As other reviews state the movie does move along at quite a slow pace, but it is intriguing. I'd say rent this one, its worth a watch, but one you may not want to add to your collection.

I am very surprised with the low rating this film has received. People seem to be under the impression that this is a horror film - this is NOT a horror film at all and should not be classed as such - it's more of a psychological thriller.

The best way to enjoy this film is to not bother reading the synopsis - I think it gives too much away. I watched this on DVD knowing nothing of what the film was about and thanks to some very wooden acting, I did think in the first 5 minutes 'Oh great, another trashy low-budget film' but I was very pleasantly surprised. Three strangers are stuck in a lift and 'cabin fever' ensues. As time goes on, each of the characters starts to unravel and we realize each of them has a story to tell ... and secrets to hide.

The way the film has been shot really adds to the claustrophobic tension and there are some good twists and gruesome shocks that I certainly didn't see coming. I love the thriller genre and found this to be a really original film. It's not jumpy or action-filled but it is dramatic. I highly recommend it although once again, please just ignore the synopsis. Also it's not a very long film and there weren't any DVD extras on my copy so it's probably better to rent this one rather than buying it!

I picked this up and thought I would give it a go, I now wish I had left it on the shelf were I first saw it. The story might have worked but the overall film was very very slow until about 5 minutes from the end. The story was 3 strangers get stuck in a lift were they keep having flash backs loads of them which sort of tells you who they are and their back ground. There are a couple of attempts to get the lift moving a bit of shouting and crying and a small amount of violence and it ends. The above is it really that's all that happens in 82 minutes, I won't tell you any more because if you do decide to watch it you will know how it ends but please don't expect to much because you will be disappointed. There will be alot of reviewers that will more than likely think this is a clever film it could have been but it just did not keep you interested. I like my horror films with plenty of violence which results in blood and gore, as I have said before you get a small amount but it is very tame for today's standard. I will give it three stars for effort and the last 5 minutes and that is being generous.
