5.0 out of 5 stars Damned brilliant!, 13 Oct 2008
7 long years have passed since the magnificent Grave Disorder but The Damned have gigged constantly since then becoming more and more cohesive as they do so. Finally a new album. The single Little Miss Disaster (included here) from 2006 was a hint of what was to come and a tantalising taster. So, Who's Paranoid sees The Damned building upon the sound and styles of Grave Disorder whilst moving on to experiment with yet new areas. Opening track A Nation Fit For Heroes sounds almost like prime Stranglers. From there on it's a journey into a myriad of different styles encompassing music hall sing-a-long(?) (Dr Woofenstein), pop-rock (Diamonds, Little Miss Disaster, Just Hanging,), ballads (Since I Met You), punk / rock of course ( Danger To Yourself, Maid For Pleasure, Perfect Sunday, Nothing), gothic ballads (Nature's Dark Passion) and wig-out psychedelia (Dark Asteroid). The standout is the magnificent Perfect Sunday which has a guitar lick any self-respecting rock band would kill for! The real surprise, however, comes in the form of the 14 minute Dark Asteroid. This is not the first time that The Damned have played around with this particular genre (check out 1980's Curtain Call) but this is the first time that Captain and Monty have really let their imagination run riot! So, Who's Paranoid is a magnificent album, great songs, brilliantly played and with faultless production. Everybody should own a copy just to see how it should be done. Genius!

5.0 out of 5 stars the one and only, 6 Dec 2008
By S. J. Hughes "yoooozy" (manc uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Absolute class. The Damned at their very best. The best stuff the Damned have done over the years for me has always been a collaboration between the lighter poppy side of The Captain and the darker side of Mr Vanian. This has it all ,massively catchy singalong tunes and wonderfull melodic dramatic, almost operattic masterpieces and lots in between. Typical Damned. Put it on and you will never take it off. And if you do take it off the tunes will be with you all day. Genius.[ps] Saw them last night in Manchester and they are as good as ever, Pinch bangs away as fast and furious as anyone you care to name and Stu looks more comfy every time I see him. Great gig, cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 11 Oct 2008
By The Crow (Berkshire, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Having downloaded this album, I'm now in the queue for the CD release - it's brilliant! Typically for the band it explores new directions whilst being recognisably The Damned. There are tracks here that sound like they have grown out of a number of the older albums, especially Strawberries, but all sounding fresh and new. My personal favourite is the very tongue in cheek "Maid for Pleasure". Damned fans will obviously love it, but I'd encourage anyone to try it as this band have something for everyone. It's been too many years since the last Damned CD. Buy this, it's been worth the wait.
