5.0 out of 5 stars Drury Lane, 1 Aug 2009
By Mr. David A. Norris "Krimson Norris" (Marlow UK) - See all my reviews

I was there, this is a wonderful capturing of the sound of that evening and brings back very vivid memories. I have been a fan of Robert Wyatt through Soft Machine, and Matching Mole, having spent my youth in the Roundhouse on Sundays just to see Matching Mole. So when Robert injured himself I was so sad. That he has come back and been such an inspirational figure is amazing. The sound is not perfect, but I suspect it wasn't that evening, but this is just great playing by musicians of quality playing music of high quality, that is timeless like all great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Treasure from the Rock Bottom days, 25 Feb 2009
By J. R. P. Wigman "Hans Wigman" (Netherlands) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After producing his masterpiece Rock Bottom, Robert Wyatt performed its songs and more at this concert, with help from a good many friends, including Dave Stewart, Fred Frith and Mike Oldfield.
As Robert Wyatt states himself in the liner notes, the latter half of the concert is soundwise not as good as the first half, but the difference is not enormous and besides, who cares? All songs on display are dynamic and wonderful (although I find the Julie Tippetts solo "Mind of a child" a bit less captivating) and all involved are spot on, not least master Wyatt himself with his fragile, emotionally charged and yet powerful voice.
From the very funny introduction by John Peel to the last note of "I'm a believer" this album is thoroughly enjoyable and a must-have for any Robert Wyatt fan, and all the more so if "Rock Bottom" is your cuppa tea.
