I have been a fan of the DragonBall series ever since I was little and saw my first episode of DBZ. This game however tells the story from before DBZ, back when it Son Goku was a child and went on lots of adventures with his friends "Bulma", "Krillin", "Oolong" etc.

This starts at the very beginning of the DragonBall saga when Goku is a small monkey-like child living alone in the woods, his life is forever changed when he meets "Bulma", a blue-haired young teen from the city, and the game begins here...

This is a must-get for anyone who enjoys the original DragonBall episodes, or manga, as its the first game [that I have seen] which covers a very wide aspect of the first few sagas.

For some games that tie in with a tv show you need to have an interest in the show in order to want to play the game. This game is no different in that it will help for you to have seen Dragonball to get the gist of what is going on...but isn't essential.
Relatively straight forward hack-slash game play. Controls are not great. Has an RPG element as you raise the levels of your attacks as you progress the game as well as try to going back to repeat every stage as quick as you can. But most levels are much of the same and gets a little dull and repetitive.

There is a DB Origins sequel where they managed a much better packaged game that although has a repetitive approach to the first is far more enjoyable to play and the control problems are not as noticeable.

There are not enough RPG Dragonball tie in games to my liking and have never been a fan of the street fighter game which there are hundreds of!
Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with this. Dragon Ball Z: Attack Of The Saiyans (Nintendo DS) is a far better game and in my opinion should have been what Dragonball Origins should have been more like.

Not the worst of games on the DS but is probably worth getting the sequel or the DBZ game above for a none-beat em up DS Dragonball game worth playing.

Bought this at Christmas for boys aged 11 and 13 at their request. End of January they are still enjoying it and not yet completed it - so good value as well as fun.

Ive just started this game and I'm already hooked. It reminds me a little of Zelda and isn't far behind in terms of quality. The game itself has a very animated feel, with very good, very cartoon like graphics but does contain some mild adult like humor. Dragon ball is prominently an adventure game with puzzles to solve and paths to open and a battle system similar to that of Zelda. If your thinking of getting this game and are a fan of adventure games then snap it up, its pretty damn good !!

As an old Dragon Ball fan I was very upset to see that the gameplay of this Dragon Ball game revolved around using the stylus or my own figure than the d-pad and the buttons. This really just wrecked my whole experience and safe to say the sequel is definitely much better since you can play with the traditional controls you've come to expect since the NES days (or Atari).

What I truly liked about DB Origins 1 was that they used the original Japanese DB theme song and that's quite unique in a western DB game.
