1.0 out of 5 stars Lazy and disappointing, 20 Dec 2008
By J. J. Evans (MK, Bucks) - See all my reviews

Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game in a supermarket for £25, having read no reviews on the basis that I've been playing football manager games for over 20 years and surely by now the makers of these games know what works and what doesn't.

This game sadly proved me wrong, devoid of any thought or attention to detail, this game commits the most cardinal of sins of football management games in that your input as manager appears to make no difference whatsoever.

A few years ago I downloaded Championship manager for my mobile phone. Even that ultra slimmed down version had more depth and challenge to it than this game, avoid at all costs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Less depth than a pancake, 22 Dec 2008

Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This game is pretty poor. I bought it in HMV, not having seen any reviews, on the basis that football management games are usually pretty good, having got football manager 2008. This game proved me wrong. I got home, and played it for about an hour. And then I was bored. You dont ever need to change your tactics, it practically gives you winning ones to start with, and isnt even updated with the right players. Then I wanted to sign players, because I thought it would be more fun than pressing "next". I was wrong. Despite what it says, you cant sign European players, all you can sign is ones in the English leagues, which if your a top team aren't good enough and cost loooadds:( Then you win everything. And thats pretty much it. And you can't play this again with another team because there is simply no difference. And I payed 23.99 for it. This is one game that I won't be playing again.
Please dont make the same mistake I did, DONT BUY IT, and im completely shocked how it is not in stock on amazon(hopefully because amazon have had the sensenot to get any). Fifa is a better managing game than this, despite it not being one(kinda). Actually, scrap that, Pokemon is a better football management game than this. With more depth. End of.

1.0 out of 5 stars BUY SOMETHING ELSE, 28 Dec 2008
By Ms. C. R. Nicol - See all my reviews

Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
Huge disappointment. You can only manage English teams. The back of the box promises you can 'recruit players from European leagues'- when and where?!

This is a really half-hearted attempt at a football management game and it would amaze me if anyone finds it good value considering I have yet to see it for less than 25 quid.

Incredibly dull playability, bizarre results and the areas you can manipulate have no bearing on the outcome.

I am away to pursue the manufacturer to prove the advertised point that you can 'recruit players from European leagues' as it is impossible to improve the good teams when you can only buy 'lesser' players.

BUY SOMETHING ELSE!
