Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Stormrise is a post apocalyptic real-time strategy game from Creative Assembly, the makers of Medieval II: Total War. Two warring factions arise from the rubble: the Echelon, a technologically advanced race that endured the planet's fallout by way of self-induced hibernation, and the Sai, a tribal society that adapted to the new apocalyptic environment and evolved over time. Players can command units in the air, across rooftops, on the earth's surface and even underground; this unique idea of "verticality" introduces multiple layers of gameplay that must be mastered for strategic advantage. The experience is heightened by a simple yet effective control system tailored specifically for consoles, which allows easy unit selection, rapid navigation and precise deployment.

Product Description

Experience the rush of battle in ways no other real-time strategy game has ever offered. Stormrise is the first truly 3D, next-gen RTS that, via the 3rd person camera perspective, puts you directly in the action. No other RTS game combines this level of immersion and emotional intensity with the scale and depth of a strategy game. Designed for next generation consoles, Stormrise puts you on the frontlines of battle as the heroic leader of your troops, allowing you to lead from the front in the world's most immersive RTS.

Earth's protective atmosphere has been stripped away by a catastrophic event centuries ago. In a bleak and barren landscape, the planet's inhabitants have had to adapt radically in order to survive, resulting in the creation of two distinctly different races; the Echelon and the Sai. With both factions constantly battling for supremacy, the rebuilt civilisation is on the brink of another catastrophe...

  • Lead from the front. Control units and issue commands while viewing the battle from the 3rd-person POV of any unit on the battlefield. The 3rd-person camera offers unprecedented immersion in the game world and presents warfare in a more visceral, emotional, and epic manner than ever before.
  • The first fully 3D RTS. Gone are the flat levels of traditional strategy games. Engage in warfare on battlefields comprised of sprawling cities and towering skyscrapers that let you play in a truly 3D environment.
  • Revolutionary console RTS features. Groundbreaking control method for quick and intuitive controls. The 'Tactical Playbook' gives players all the strategic choice they get from a traditional RTS, but with the simplicity and accessibility of a playbook.
  • Advanced multiplayer features. Multiplayer modes feature "join anytime" functionality, previously only seen in first-person shooters and a breakthrough for console strategy titles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea for an RTS... Shame it failed!, 14 Jul 2009

Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
As my title would suggest I thought the idea was great and to be honest I bought it early before any real reviews were available. I can honestly say I had my doubts even before I bought it but I was reckoning that good ol' Creative Assembly would pull it off... Alas I was wrong it really is bad, the controls (which were highly hyped to be very intuitive) were awful and they plagued my initial gaming experience to such an extent that I can't bring myself to play it again. I suggest if you want the best RTS experience stick with Creative Assembly and get the Total War series for the PC (which I might add are awesome) and you will fare far better.

Still you have to hand it to them for trying something new and it's these attempts at being a little different to the run of the mill RTS genre that will eventually lead to great things... Keep trying Creative Assembly!
