The Devil's Rejects is the sequel to Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and is far superior in so many ways. I found the first film too bizarre and out there with a few good jokes thrown in. However the sequel has a decent storyline, far better acting and an absolutely excellent soundtrack. The way the film is shot coupled with the music gives a very authentic 70's feel to the film.

It's about a family of...well sick pychos I suppose, (Otis, Baby, Spaulding, Tiny and Madame Firefly) who are on the run from the police and will do anything to get away from them. Sherrif Wydell is on their tail wanting revenge after they killed his brother in the previous film. Wydell loses the plot somewhat, almost to the point that has you rooting for the bad guys. There is a dark humour running throughout with some good gags for all but even with some darker sadistic violence but it has all been put together in such a way that it works.

There are some great cameos from Danny Trejo, Ken Foree and Michael Berryman for the horror nerds and an excellent finale timed perfectly to Skynyrd's Freebird, absolute genius.

This is one of my favouite films and whilst there are violent scenes, this is more a film to make you feel uncomfortable rather than scared, done in a similar vein to The Last House on the Left.

very interesting film indeed.. miles better than zombie's first offering "house of 1000 corpes" that starts good but kind of becomes a joke eventually.. his first film did show glimpses of his talent, but ended up as a self-indulgent, overly bizzare horror piece that made little sense.. on the other hand this one is very well structured, has no holes in the plot and has a focused simple story that has a grittier edge but doesnt get ruined from too many weird visuals and uneeded nastiness and gore.. also it easily stands on its own and can be watched without seeing the house of 1000 c first..
Many of the reviewers here talk about how brutal, disturbing and nasty this film is but i totally disagree.. Its nowhere close to other recent offerings like the saw trilogy, hostel, hills hv eyes, even the new texas chainsaw etc..
unpleasant and dark yes but def not gory or gross as some here claim. i am not even sure it can be classified as horror...
great characters even if mainly one dimensional, especially great camera work- not overdone as in his first film, clever cutting/editing and most of all not just great, but superb 70s soundrack that makes this film a bit more special than what it really is..
the combo of the ending with the classic lynyrd skynyrd song played is i think genious...
not 5 stars cause at the end of the day there is not much depth, but other than that just great........

While Rob Zombie's debut, 'The House Of 1000 Corpses', was an instant horror classic, I have to admit to finding his second film is a little disappointing. While Zombie really seems to have found his own unique style as a director, especially some very clever cinematography which slows scenes of real action down to mere snapshots set to music, which in turn makes the action seem more intense; the overall the story is weak, unfocused and a little disjoined. And whereas 'The House Of 1000 Corpses' was a brilliant homage to the 'gridhouse' genre of the 70's horror films, 'The Devils Rejects' is more of a violent revenge thriller basically continuing where the last film ended, with the majority of the story dominated by three members of the 'Firefly' family on the run from the local sheriff. Overall, it's a pretty decent film, not as good as its predecessor, but still head and shoulders above other horror thrillers of recent times.

This is the film that showed that Rob Zombie could have become a legend as a horror film director - before throwing away that reputation with a couple of insipid Halloween remakes.

His first film, House of a 100 Corpses is a fun throwaway movie, but The Devil's Rejects, which picks up with characters from his debut film, it a tour de force of trash horror which deserves a lasting place in horror history.

With many a quotable line of dialogue, some fantastic music (you'll never listen to Freebird by Lynard Skynard in the same way again after seeing this film) and some truly demented and horrific imagery (witness the girl running out of the motel wearing the face of one of her friends before being run over by a passing truck!), The Devil's Rejects is one of the very best horror films of the 21st Century.

The blu-ray is packed with phenomenal extras, including an fantastic two and half hour making of, as well as bloopers, interviews, and much much more. Treat yourself to a Tutti Frutti!

The Texas State Police are making a full-scale attack against the murderous Firefly family residence for murders and disappearances of the past several years.

But three of the family escape, including Otis, Baby Firefly and Baby's father Captain Spaulding. The trio go on a road trip, leaving dozens of bodies in their wake.

Evading a Texas Rangers squad, as well as a group of bounty hunters led by Ken Dwyer, who's obsessed with finding the deadly killers, the surviving Firefly clan gather at a run- down amusement park owned by Captain Spaulding's half-brother.

He offers them shelter and a new base of operations for their killing spree as Sheriff Dwyer, the Texas Rangers, the FBI and bounty hunters slowly close in......

It's a marmite movie of the highest order, you either going to love it, or hate it, depending on your love for the auteur. While many will strongly disagree, I think Zombie has evolved the horror films in a strange way.

While the foundations of his narrative are still rather simplistic, his visions are stark are visceral, and his characterisations are insane. Every character in his film has some sort of strange trait that on any normal day would appear odd, but for his narrative,suit the film perfectly.

A sequel of sorts to House of a 1000 Corpses, the film is very reminiscent of Cravens 'Last House on the left', as behind its very macabre, surreal visage, is a hazy, almost psychedelic feel to it, with a little bit of steampunk thrown in for good measure.

The cast are wonderful, he film has an unsettling mood throughout, which is always present in Zombie films, and just when you think things couldn't get any more twisted, they do..

In Zombies world, no one is innocent, every character has a dark side, and the Firefly family are there to bring it out that bit more.

Not for everyone, but it's a remarkable experience.
