With its stunning 8.9 inch screen with built in webcam, 95% keyboard and unique yet intuitive interface, you will find the Aspire One a pleasure to use. Want one? Aspire One!

portable Ultra-portable
Weighing less than 1KG* and with dimensions that are smaller than the average diary, the Aspire One is fits into the palm of your hands, making it simple to carry by hand or even in a handbag.

Unique Aspire One Interface

One of the neatest features of the Aspire One is the unique operating system which is created on Linux Linplus. This simple-to-use system is based on clear icons, similar to a mobile phone system, which are launched by simply clicking on them, which makes it intuitive to use and simple to master.

Linplus Linux

Your primary interface is separated into 4 clear segments, Connect, Work, Fun and Files that combine to give you access to a whole host of tools to ensure you make the most of your mobility.

Connect Connect:
The Aspire One puts your favourite communication programs right on the home screen so you’re ready to connect to the web, email or chat on messenger within seconds of turning it on.

Work Work
For people who want to stay productive on the move, the Work section on the Aspire One has built in software that allows you to do everything from writing letters and doing basic spreadsheets to running a presentation. In the work section you can also access your contacts list, a calculator and a notes pad, giving you the flexibility you need.

Fun Fun
What would life be like without some fun? Whether it is watching a movie, listening to music or playing one of the exciting games already installed, the Aspire One will keep you entertained on the go.

Files Files
The files section of the interface gives you the ability to copy, share or access your files and folders simply and logically ensuring you are always in control.

Design Stylish Design
The Aspire One is an elegant and stylish netbook that features a stunning gloss cover in either seashell white or sapphire blue colours, so you can pick the version that suits your style and your personality.

Easy to Use Easy to Use
One of the key aspects to any Netbook is the keyboard size, too small and you can’t use it properly, too big and the whole system needs to be made bigger. Acer has managed to get a 95% keyboard into its 8.9 inch netbook, one of the largest for the size, making this netbook a pleasure to type on.

Connectivity Connectivity
Connectivity is vital with a netbook, both to the internet and to other devises. For strong internet connectivity Acer has both wired and wireless internet connectivity options. To connect to other devises there are 3 USB ports as well as VGA output and sharing data between devises is easy with the built in multicard reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Diamond, 9 Sep 2008
By N. Graham (England) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
This little diamond is excellent the most noticable thing is the speed and the clarity of the LCD screen. The Operating System is Linux Lite and boots from cold in less than 15 seconds. Connected to my WiFi in another 3 seconds and I was up and running. From sleep it takes about 5 seconds to boot. Just close the lid and it sleeps open the lid again and tap any key at it is up and running from where you left it. Battery time is about 2-3 hours and the keyboard is big enough for proper typing.

    Ports:-
    > 3 USB2 ports is good and loaded my USB mouse in seconds.
    > There are headphone jacks on the side which loaded first time.
    > There are 2 card readers 1. SD only and the other a multi card reader.
    > Network Slot which connected to my network without any configuring,
    > VGA Monitor output for a monitor.

    Software:-
Comes loaded with OpenOffice alowing you to use or create most M$ documents, Videos, Music etc... It has a built in Webcam and Microphone for those addicts of instant messaging MSN, AOL, Yahoo, GoogleTalk etc.....

The best thing is that user don't have any administrator access so the operating system can never get trashed, unlike M$. The drawback is you can't add new programs but that is the point with this little machine. It is Small, Light and fast.

A 120GB hard drive means you can store more files than you should and the size makes it ideal for travel or for the bedroom dresser.

Highly recommend to anyone but especially for children or computer shy as it is so simple and easy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, 30 Nov 2008
By Alf (N Ireland) - See all my reviews
I bought a 120 Gb 512 RAM AA1 on the 12th November for £199 (free delivery) and couldn't wait until Christmas.
Its almost perfect apart from two minor problems.

    1. The fan is a bit noisy, however the aspireoneuser forum say a bios upgrade helps.
    2. The file manager (Thunar) cannot recognize my windows home network. Its strange as Acer are aware of this problem and as yet haven't release an upgrade to fix the problem.

Apart from these minor problems I would recommend the AA1 to anyone wanting a netbook.

    Update on imperfections -

Install Konqueror by opening a terminal window and enter "sudo yum install kdebase"
After it downloads, open your file manager and go to /usr/share/applications/kde and you should see several Konqueror desktop configuration files.
Right click the largest desktop configuration file and send it to the desktop
Use file manager to go to desktop and click the shortcut
From there it is fairly simple to access a windows network, share files and printers.

4.5 stars now. Just the noisy fan to fix.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Acer Aspire 150, 6 Dec 2008
By Picchianti Alessandro (palo alto) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
Just remove the standard linpus lite OS, and install UBUNTU on it, you can do it creating a usb istallation stick using another pc, so you'll have a complete OS with al the applications working and evolving (Skype, VLC, etc..) . to upgrade the memory is quite easy, just look for video instructions on youtube.
If you don't like linux, you can always install XP or Vista on in (you need at least 1gb of ram x vista), you can even install OSX Leopard in it! just look for the video tutorials on youtube...
Fantastic machine for the money, with a small hardware hack you can configure the screen as touchscreen! (still look on youtube for the videos..)
    I hope this helps.
