Decisions, decisions. The Denon equivalent, or this Onkyo?
Go to large retailer, and listen to both! I'm so glad I did. This unit wiped the floor with the Denon. (315?)

This unit can be bought with the Onkyo speakers, which some claim can be bettered. My experience? Could I tell the difference? Doubt it, because this is an awsome performer as it is.
This is from someone who used to be into more serious Hi-Fi, and currently has a pair of floor standing Kef Coda 10 loudspeakers sitting idle in his computer room. These alone were more expensive than the price of this unit plus speakers, and I am quite happy with the Onkyo thank you.

Highly recommended.

p.s. Anyone want to buy a pair of Kef Coda 10's?

After trailing through the comets and dixons and argos!.....I went to Oaks Sounds and Vision in Poole and tested 3 different similar priced units... A yamaha and a Denon. This Onkyo unit was running a pair of moitor A1's and the sound is excellent...The others are very close but this one had the best, bass handling, clarity in the mid range with no distortion at low level volume,important as this is for the nursary! touch control was good with a high quality feel to the buttons and also the DAB was easy to set up unlike the others. Also this unit can play MP3 etc straight from a USB stick.
Sounds absolutley faultless.
I bought it after an hour of testing.

An excellent piece of equipment. Good warm sound, definite improvement on my older Denon player.
One small caveat. I bought it to play my 16GB Creative MP3 player through the USB port, but it doesn't work. apparently it does not with interior usb. That's inside the player. But its still not going back.
