This game is always going to be compared with Beijing 2008. Both have a large number of events to chose, but i feel that Summer Athletics comes out on top here. Some of the events in Beijing are a little odd, Judo and Kajaking spring to mind. Summer Athletics seems more tight and the differance in control systems for each event is not a million miles away from the last. Bejing has one difficultly setting which for beginers can prove a little difficult (long jump anyone). Summer Athletics has four settings and easy is a little to easy which is good for new players or moms and dads. You can get 1000 achievement points on both games with a little work but Beijing requires more time and a little more work and time. To be fair to Beijing the spread of achievements is vastly superior to Summer Athletics and you get the points at a more reqular intervals. Sound and graphics are both 4 out of 5 for both games. The menu system for Beijing is a little better but not so much that it is a problem.
Now for the bad news. Summer Athletics has no on-line at all. No game play, leader boards, nothing. This will limit the games lifespan when you have beaten all the records and got 1000G.
Summer Athletics is best for new/casual gamers and of course those after easy achievement points. A very good game that i have enjoyed playing and will play again. If you are after a greater challenge or on-line play then go for Beijing. Both games are great fun and i find it hard to pick one over the other.
