"This is nothing original," sings the self-effacing Wade MacNeil on Timeless. He couldn't be more wrong. Though unmistakably rooted in punk, this gem features crystal-cascade piano contrasted with gravelly but haunting vocals, with lyrics to rival sister band Alexisonfire. Catchy, punky songs like Hold Fast (Sink or Swim), These Moments Define Us, or For Her sit well with tearjerkers like In Memory. Occasional snare rolls and jumpy rhythm guitar is reminiscent of MacNeil's hardcore background, but it has been subdued and infused with tuneful, soulful talent; throw in strings and electronic sound scapes, all very well produced, and you have a work of art which is truly beautiful. The `third singer' of Alexisonfire takes over, the snarling, jaunty, but passionate voice really defining this album. It fits in well with AoF and City and Colour, somewhere in between the two in terms of heaviness, and slightly less melancholic than Dallas' offerings. But Send Flowers IS original: you won't hear better bluesy melodic hardcore folk this year. Wonderful, if far too short.

This album is superb. Heart felt, raw and addictive. Wade's chainsaw-laced voice mixed with piano is such an interesting combination, you can't help but get drawn in to the stories being told. I'm not really sure how to describe the style, it's sort of stripped down punk with a folk flavour, but there's probably people that would disagree with that. If you're in to Alexisonfire, then this is essential, it really shows just how good a song writer in his own right, Wade is. There's songs that are catchy, songs that are uplifting and songs that make you feel like crying(in a good way). Although the album is obviously influenced by o.s punk, I really think it will appeal to anyone who know's what good music is all about. Oh, and if you get a chance, go see them live. Awesome.
