DVD Description

In V: Series 1 aliens pretending to be friendly, come to Earth and are received openly. The aliens have masqueraded themselves to look just like humans. When it is discovered that the aliens' planet is dying and that they have come to rape the Earth of its natural resources, the war for Earth begins. An important key to the humans' success is distinguishing the their own from the aliens.

Synopsis

Aliens with nice faces and reptilian habits descend over the earth bringing a new and menacing world order with them in this landmark television miniseries. Sixty-five million viewers reportedly viewed the original broadcast. Disguised to look just like humans, the aliens are actually lizard-like creatures out to strip the planet of its water supply and turn humans into food. Although most people are fooled by the visitors and allow the planet to be taken over by the fascist monsters, a group of resistance fighters try to defeat these creatures. Helping the underground movement is a journalist (Marc Singer) who figures out just what the aliens are up to.

4.0 out of 5 stars at last a UK PAL release, 23 Aug 2008
By Stephen Gill "book stephen g" (merseyside UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: V - The Complete Series [DVD] [1984] (DVD)
at last V the series has officially landed in the UK. Having already purchased the mini series and the final battle, you just have to add this to the collection. although lacking the storyline quality of the other V dvds, V the series starts off well with the story of the re invasion and the introduction of new characters, Diana and Lydia run some classic bitching lines that is very dynasty, however the episodes seem to grow weaker and the budget gets cut more as we move along, a dissapointing unresolved final episode i thought which i wish we had seen resolved before the series was cancelled, however there is a script on the visitors.info site that explains what happens next if youre interested. Overall i love V and a true fan needs this for their collection. hopefully we will see a V revival someday

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timeless Classic!!, 29 Jun 2009
This review is from: V - The Complete Series [DVD] [1984] (DVD)
Imagine my joy when I realised that the TV program that monopolised my time in the 80's was available on DVD. I could be transported back to a simpler time when I watched this fantastic series late at night in black and white on a tiny telly in my bedroom. Oh, the horror as the nation watched the Visitors peel off their phoney faces! Those reptillian eyes! That 80's make up! Genius. I am a very happy bunny now that I have all the episodes ever aired to watch over and over again.
Oh, and whatever happened to Diana? I'll tell you. Jane Badler lives in Canada, has a singing career, and is on Facebook. Go and find her if you dare...

4.0 out of 5 stars Guilty Pleasure, 19 Nov 2008
This review is from: V - The Complete Series [DVD] [1984] (DVD)

"V" the series Season 1(& only season)19 episodes, left behind the creative sensibility of creator Kenneth Johnson of the excellent "V" original mini series(2 parter) and the sequel "V - The Final Battle"(3 parter).

However as a kid growing up in the 80s the series was entertaining despite it's reused FX shots and soap opera drama aboard the mothership between Diana and Lydia, the love triangle btween Starchild Elizabeth, mother Robin & Kyle.

Unfortunately Mike Donovan & Juliet Parrish characters often took a back seat storywise but were involved fortunately in the action.

Departure of Michael Irinside mid-season as Ham Tyler was a big mistake.

However as 'camp' illogical science fiction it entertains never-the-less and I'm glad I purchased it after all having not seen the series since 20yrs ago worth it for nostalgia.

Certainly NOT the quality of it's mini-series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but very silly.
To be honest some of the later episodes in this show are camper than Adam West's Batman. Some of the story-lines are terrible. Any decent actor will be ignored. Read more
