Manufacturer's Description

Legendary tells the story of Charles Deckard, an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora's Box. When he inadvertently opens it, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional - such as werewolves and gryphons - into an unprepared modern world. A full scale war between man and myth begins, and it is quickly complicated by the actions of powerful secret societies. As the person responsible for releasing this terror, Deckard's unwittingly become the only person capable of containing it once more and saving civilization from being destroyed by the terrifying creatures.

Product Description

All the creatures of myth, legend and lore are real-they've just been sealed away for thousands of years inside Pandora's Box. When a thief named Deckard is hired to steal an ancient artifact, he unwittingly triggers a war between man and myth. Giant Gryphons rule the skies, Werewolves tear the innocent limb from limb and cities are held under siege as creatures we'd dismissed as the imaginings of our ancestors prove to be very real and very angry at being prisoners for untold milennia. As the only person able to seal the box, Deckard finds that he must work with a shadowy secret society to save civilization before it's torn apart by tooth and claw.

  • A fantasy shooter set in an unprepared, modern world
  • A massive, blockbuster movie experience - society collapses around you as man and machine take on the beasts of legend in a spectacular battle
  • Awe-inspiring fire-fights where high-caliber ordinance meets beak, talon, fang and claw
  • Dynamic environments crumble around you as you and your enemies literally tear a living, breathing environment apart in your battle to stay alive
  • Devastation is realized on an unprecendented scale. See London burn to the ground and witness New York torn apart through spectacular supernatural destruction

2.0 out of 5 stars Better than Turning Point, 3 Jan 2009

Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
How do you follow up one of the worst games in recent memory? Spark has mercifully improved Legendary over the atrocious Turning Point. But sadly it still falls sort of almost everything else available.

The plot involves a numbskull art thief named Charles Deckard. He agrees to open Pandora's Box for an art collector named Le Fey. He commands a private army so obviously turns out to be a bad guy.
The opening doesn't kill Deckard, instead leaving him with mystical powers, which are upgraded during the game. Health is collected from fallen enemies. Storing and using health; indeed all other mystical powers are managed by Triangle. This can be quite problematic.

Most of Turning Points major errors have been rectified. A sprint button has been added. Combat is slightly more satisfying and varied; as some enemies have to be killed a specific way. Weapon scopes don't cover the screen nearly as obtrusively. Graphics are prettier, with some nicely done set pieces. Yet these can only highlight how boring your actions are in comparison. Loading times are better managed. Presentation has a more professional feel, with Deckard's PDA fleshing out the universe with detailed notes on enemies, weapons etc. There are even hidden items scattered throughout levels.

Its not without fault however. The fire button sticks after reloading, environments are still pathetically non-interactive. The door hacking minigame is a particularly lazy example.
Legendary is a competent FPS; worth a rental or maybe at reduced price. Judging by the improvements Spark have made here, their next release could be quite decent. Yet, Legendary is only as good as the most average shooter. This may sound pretentious, but it's an inescapable fact.

1.0 out of 5 stars the whole cover is very decieving..., 27 July 2009
Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Borrowed from blockbusters, which I'm glad I didn't buy and will never play again, the gameplay and aiming system are shocking. Variation with enemies is limited, in which of the concept 'legendary' could of been massive! You could of done loads with this been pandora's box! loads of enemies, magical weaoponary etc..you could go on!

They seemed to of sat in limited range when if pandora's box was opened you'd expect alot of crazy stuff happening...but its all just to average! which made it to disappointing...I took it back without doing the first part! I don't need to tell you what shooters to play now...but you can guess and this bargain bin classic isn't one of them!

1.0 out of 5 stars A very disappointing game. One of the worst of 2008., 11 Nov 2008

Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
When I heard the premise for 'Legendary' I thought, wow - this game could be one of the best games of 2008. Basically the idea is that Charles Deckard, an art thief, is duped into stealing Pandora's Box. When he inadvertently opens it, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional - such as werewolves and gryphons - into an unprepared modern world. A full scale war between man and myth begins, and it is quickly complicated by the actions of powerful secret societies. Sounds good doesn't it? Well it's not. It is a horrible game that has sub-standard graphics and animations, the sound and music are terrible and feel strange and out of place, the game is ridiculously short and there is no online mode whatsoever, only one multiplayer mode which is rubbish and no replay value. Quite simply put, the biggest flop of 2008, with no exceptions. DO NOT BUY IT.
