The Silver Surfer entered the world of comics in March 1966, in Fantastic Four #48, as an unplanned addition to a story about Galactus and the Fantastic Four. Both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby enjoyed the character so much that he featured him in a solo title, The Silver Surfer, in 1968 with him going on to become one of the most well-loved of all the Marvel characters. In 1998, the Surfer starred in a solo animated series which is available now for the first time ever on DVD! In his animated series the Silver Surfer s origins were laid out alongside encounters with many characters from Marvel's "cosmic" stable, including The Fantastic Four, Thanos, The Watcher, Ego the Living Planet, Mentor, Drax the Destroyer, Pip the Troll, Nebula, as well as the Kree and Skrull empires.
