5.0 out of 5 stars The early days........, 8 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pretties for You (Audio CD)
Before his monsterous hits of the 70's and "shock rock" stage show, Alice Cooper was a deranged, psychedelic hippie act. So deranged that they easily wilted the flowers in the hair of those San Franciscan peace loving hippies. Years later, Cooper decided to take this to the extreme and manufactured his now legendary metal image. However, this album and "Easy Action" are classic nuggets from the late 60's and both HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Although, of the two, I prefer "Pretties For You", as it weaves, meanders and catches you inside its psychedelic web with songs like "Swing Low..." "Living", "Fields of Regret",and "Apple Bush". "Living" & "Fields..." in particular are both fuzzed out monsters of songs. Superb, and to this reviewer, far better than anything Cooper would record during his 70's incarnation. If you are a fan of 60's psych/hard rock or a die-hard Cooper fan, I recommend checking this out (and "Easy Action" album) . However, if you are looking for "School's Out", or "Billion Dollar Babies" material, steer clear of this and leave this album for us psych heads to enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars love it to death, 12 Aug 2009
By Mygen Ledes (Maidenhead, UK) - See all my reviews
Having bought Schools Out, Billion Dollar Babies and Muscle of Love as LPs when they were originally released, never then listened to the early 'School days' recordings, which included Pretties for You. Now having returned to these classic albums on CD, I realised what I had been missing - If you are a fan of the recordings up until Muscle, then don't hesistate to buy and discover this rock album gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky, Enjoyable Debut, 11 April 2009
By Lee Mcandrew - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Whether Alice Cooper fans like this album depends on their music tastes outside of the sphere of the great Mr Furnier. As a fan of alternative music I really enjoyed what they were trying to achieve. This is a debut album at a time when Alice Cooper (the band) were new to the scene and hadn't developed the more familiar style of albums like Schools Out and Love It To Death. What you get with this album are some weird but ultimately wonderful tunes, endearing for all their simplicity.
