I am a great fan of Harold Budd's discovering his music via the Cocteau Twins back in the late 80's.Funny how one album can lead you in a totally different direction. Anyway i've never been disapointed by the man and i've probably got 90% of his output. This album is no different, lovely touches from Clive Wright (who i must look into)including what sounds like e bow guitar on one track.If you've never bought anything by Harold Budd this is as good a place to start as any but it won't be your last purchase.I could go on about ethereal soundscapes, ambient blah blah.That's all been said before and done to death.This album is up there with the best of Eno, Bill Nelson etc. Buy with confidence.

Harold Budd's c.d.'s these days are collaborations, FRAGMENTS FROM THE INSIDE is the best of the bunch. The recent two Guthrie/Budd c.d.'s were very disappointing. This release with Clive Wright is spoilt by Wright's refusal to back down i.e. he overplays and doesn't know when to lay back and let Harold take a turn, especially on the long first track. It's the same old ambient guitar doodles you have heard a thousand times, infinite, delayed stuff that really grates after a while..think of Michael Brook and you get the idea. Come on Harold lets have a proper AMBIENT release again, I speak as a long-time fan who feels let down by every recent release. This is NOT essential Budd believe me.

Hauntingly beautiful music to relax to created in the desert by the versatile and brilliant guitarist Clive Wright in his link up with the equally brilliant Harold Budd. If you run an aromatherapy business, a health spa, beauty parlor, anything connected with alternative healing etc, this is should be the music to provide the setting you need. Also listen to some of Clive's earlier work with the band Cock Robin see I Don't Want to Save the World Cock Robin

i think this is a slow burner, i`s almost like no piano from Harold, a lot of treatments et al , but i am definitely warming to this album.
