This film has some very good builds in it.It isn't my favourite, but still enjoyable because of the variation of themes.If like me you own many of the DVD's of these series,you will firstly KNOW your favourites,then next come the "OK's but not to be missed", and lastly the ones that really turn you off!!

The house in Clapham deserves a "mench",they had originally a small and narrow, really squashed terraced sort of house.They also had quite a large plot of land adjacent for some reason.Anyway,they did not want to be overlooked (Blocks of flats all around)and decided to build a curved house around a Horse Chestnut tree,that would give privacy.The couple had poor plans,a mish mash sort of approcah and to cap it all the husband decided to knock down their little terraced house before the curved one was anywhere near completion!! How this build survived I don't know,as everything seemed so haphazard,and of course Kevin was giving his views and quite nicely sticking the "dirk" in as the failures mounted.

Then we had the German Huf Haus,which was okay(ish!)Another house that really was a posh pre-fab.The couple seemed genuine and warm.

One of the best ones was the Edinburgh house.A young couple who had a thirst for dangerous adventure did most of the work themselves.If you want to see a young woman tile a roof on her own,watch this.The house was in a terrible state,and again,like so many, they seemed to have a haphazard way of building. however,their daring exploits prepared them for everything this build could throw at them and they survived,albeit exhausted to tell the tale.

As I said previously some builds in this I liked and some not so much,but this DVD is well worth the money,especially if you are young and fit or,just maybe(?)very wealthy.

I really love these series (I have Season 1-4) Even if you never build your own house these DVDs will give you ideas for decorating etc. Really rate the series up until now, however I cannot understand why the next series is split over two parts, is it as I suspect a money thing now it's popular? What I find annoying is that if you are collecting the whole thing it can look odd on you DVD rack if they suddenly change the packaging half way through. Anyway, rant over, buy series 1-4 and wait until series 5 is in one box at £9 and not two boxes at £10 each.

I have watched these episodes on Channel 4 from the early days. I find them very relaxing. Let brave individuals do the work and battle the elements in pursuit of their dream home. I take my hat off to them. The pain and the aggravation they often have to endure makes me glad I am sitting comfortably in my armchair.

The rewards of their labours are often truly magnificent. It's great to see it all working out for them in the end.

I had emailed Channel 4 a few weeks ago about Grand Designs being released on DVD and they said they had no plans to do so. Well, here we are and Fremantle Media has announced that Series 4 will be released in May. This is excellent news. This is the best property show ever made and is very, very engaging. If you have never seen the show before then I recommend you pick up series 1 on DVD and see if it is for you. Kevin McCloud presents the show with good humour and interesting ideas. Has to be one to own! Here is to the rest of the seasons being released on DVD soon!

FANTASTIC AS NORMAL, KEVAN BRINGS SO MUCH PASSION TO THE DESIGNS AS USUAL.
THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST AND SADLY LAST OF THE SERIES. SEIRES 4 HERE WAS WELL ABOVE THE NORMAL AND A GOOD ONE TO END ON, YET FOR THE EXPERT NOTHING QUIT MATCHED THE FANTASTIC GERMAN BUILD IN SERIES 2.
