Product Description
Description
Preceded by two well-received EPs, 'Elephant Shell' is the debut full-length album from Canadian indie rockers Tokyo Police Club. Featuring the anthemic and jangly single 'Tessellate', this release sees something of a calming of pace for the band (with 'Listen To The Math' standing out as a downbeat highlight). While still frenetic and noisy, 'Elephant Shell' shows a developing sensitivity to dynamic range and emotional mood. The focus, though, remains the communication of catchy pop hooks and the boundless vigour with which they aredelivered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent debut album, 1 May 2008

(REAL NAME)
When listening to this album it's easy to pick out the influences on this band. They move from Bloc Party-esque guitar and drums to Editors high pitched echoing lead guitar in another. However, one thing that is truly distinctive is lead singer and bassist Dave Monks' voice. I'm fairly sure it's not meant to be that high but it really works!

With catchy riffs, excellent drums and Dave's crystal clear voice, it's a great combination. If you are a fan of Bloc Party/Editors/Snowden you may well enjoy this album.

Best song on the album for me is "Tessellate" which has one of the catchiest piano riffs around. It craves a massive chorus to go along with the brilliant verses but just doesn't quite get there. A bit of a disappointment but doesn't hold back the album at all.

Other great songs on the album are the Editors influenced "Sixties Remake" and also "Your English is Good".

Great debut album from an interesting band: here's hoping they go far.
