Description
From France, Mina Agossi is a jazz singer who uses her voice as a saxophone-like instrument and who also draws from beyond the time period of overdone jazz standards. Agossi can be as wildly expressive as a free-jazz player or she can be as coolly seductive as Julie London and Eartha Kitt. With often minimal instrumental backing, she breathes new life into songs old ("A Good Man Is Hard To Find")and not so old (PinkFloyd's "Money"), as well as heartfelt originals.
From the label
Mina has always been one to push boundaries and this album transcends more musical frontiers with a spellbinding collection of brand new originals and surprising new takes on a variety of familiar songs, all delivered in the inimitable Aggossi style. Superbly recorded at Studios La Buissonne in South West France, the album features the incomparable Manolo Badrena on percussion along with her stalwarts - Eric Jacot (bass) and Ichiro Onoe (drums) with the proceedings further enlivened by the addition of Fredric Dupond (moog) and Racos (French Rap).
