A great Eee pc, 4 Feb 2008
I am really impressed with this little laptop, but don't buy as a first pc as it is far too small to use as a main pc. You would be better off spending another £50 or so and getting a full size laptop. However, having said that, I couldn't put it down. Connecting to my router was a doddle, as was setting up my e-mail. Hard drive space is not a problem as I have network storage, which I could find easily The screen is good enough for web browsing without too much scrolling. Typing was a bit of a problem because I normally use ergonomic keyboards but you could get used to it, especially if your fingers are not too big.
My original reason for buying it was to read an e-book without a large laptop on my knee. Unfortunately you can't use Adobe's special e-reader for this but the place I buy my books from does allow you to read your purchased books on line, which is perfectly acceptable and is exactly what I wanted.
It boots up and closes down in seconds, the screen is easy on the eye. Battery life so far has been round about 3 hours. I have no intention of changing to XP, although drivers are included on the attached disc. So far I have not changed from initial 'easy access' desktop (too busy playing) although I will open up the full linux in due course. I'm not that fussed about the games that are included. Open office looks fine, nearly like Microsoft, but I probably will not use.
I've ordered more memory, it is fast but I want faster, (only one slot)and I already have a spare SD card so lack of space will never be a problem.
For the price it is a good buy, certainly compared with others of a similar size that run windows. It's weighs less than a bag of sugar, doesn't get really hot, is really neat and the perfect geek toy. Once you pick it up you'll be loath to boot up that old desktop, especially when you can now do everything from a nice comfy chair.

Fabulous! Get one!!!, 21 April 2008
What a little gem, I was thrilled to bits when I saw this tiny laptop, it's just awesome and you can't help but love it. It has everything on it that you could possibly need, all in a super light, mega portable package.
The linux operating system is so easy to navigate, the wireless internet is a breeze to set up. It has facility for music, video, pics, etc.... all the software is pre-installed. Just plug it in and you're off.
I only bought it to use while away, but now I have it, I can see my main laptop being left gathering dust. The keyboard is quite small but it's no big story to get used to.
I am very very happy with this computer. I would have waited for the new model to come out: Asus Eee PC 900-BK / Intel Mobile / 20GB / 8.9" screen / Laptop - with windows operating system - but it doesn't come in pink!
