3.0 out of 5 stars Great for use in the city!, 26 Aug 2008

Purchased in December ( - for twice as much!).

It's fast and quick to connect, and topping up is easy by buying your top up voucher as you would for your phone. Bonus that the '3' network is pre-pay, no contract!! Just £10 for a months use when you want is pretty cheap!

It's perfect for in the CITIES. Though, it consistently failed to connect in MANY small towns in Cornwall and Scotland, which made buying it for travelling about the UK a bit pointless (- as in the big cities there were cheap wifi cafes anyway!) Make sure you thoroughly check the coverage in the area you are going to use it to get good value!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful , 22 Jan 2009
Don't go with 3 for mobile broadband.

The Feb 2009 edition of Personal Computer World rates "3" as easily the worst for connection speed (upload and download) and notes that often the speed was "barely better than dialup" and "very disappointing".

This supports my own use. Connection speed, even in Central London, is poor. Outside of town it's virtually unusable. Speeds are dialup, even though the software tells us it's HSDPA. Connection often drops.

Terrible customer service -call centre in India- completes the package.
