I guess we have Midway and TNA to thank for the over-hyping of this game judging by previews, teasers and press release's this game was meant to take WWE's Smackdown vs Raw title of best grappling game....sadly it doesn't.

Dont get me wrong its a solid game the graphics are fantastic and some of the reversals look awesome and the more simplistic control's make it more accesible than the SD VS RAW game but despite all of these great attributes they only mask some major flaws.

The fact that every character has just about the same move set is really bugging Midway claimed that they motion captured over 2000 moves for the game yet due to time restrictions they had to cut almost all of them.

The lack of characters too is a main grype about 30 in total. (some of these are secret unlockable characters)

One weapon in the entire game (steel chair) i mean c'mon how hard would it be to add a few more especially for guys like Sting,Jarrett and Team 3D who all have signature weapons and use them on a frequent basis.

Hardly any match types Ultimate X is the only unique match and its quite good but tag team matches suck. There are no double team moves and the really annoying thing is that your partner sometimes saves you when you get pinned other times he just stands on the apron while you lose the match.

Now i know this is a 1st attempt and shouldnt be judged to harshly but the fact that Midway have had 2 and a half years to make it makes you wonder what they have been doing all this time.

Overall Impact has its moments but even the most avid fans of TNA will struggle to get into this I would rent it and see for yourself before paying full price for it or if its going cheap 2nd hand its worth a look.

Having played the game at a Midway press conference, all I can say is I was very impressed.

The gameplay is fluid, and light years ahead of the Smack down vs. Raw series. This game is going to be the best wrestling game since No Mercy on the N64.

The new options are fantastic especially the Ultimate X match, this is by far the best type of match I have ever played on a wrestling game. Lots of the TNA roster put a lot of effort into building this game, both through motion capture (which is obvious from how good the game looks) to the drawing board stage. These young guys like the champion Joe, and AJ Styles are hardcore gamer so know what gamers want, and their influence is clear and certainly paid off.

I would highly recommend this title, even based on the early version I played. I would recommend it no only to TNA fans, and not just WWE fans either (even though there is a lot for you as well with familiar faces such as Kurt Angle, Christian, Booker T, Rhino, Scott Steiner, The Dudley boys (Team 3D), Jeff Jarret, Sting, Christy Hemme and Tomko in the game) But to any fans of fighting games in general. You could even go as far to recommend it to all gamers, even if the fighting genre is not your think you may wish to check out this title because it really is a breath of fresh air, and an all round good game.

You can be confident it will be money ell spent, happy grappling.

If anyone has the arcade xbox 360 its more than likely the game will crash on the 1st level of story mode if ur xbox user name is less than i think 8 or 6 characters. If it does crash make it longer and it should work! I only found this out having trawled through the internet after returning exchanging copies to gamestation and the same thing happened but now its working fine.
