what you want to know, 19 Jul 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
just like the other reviewer said its got a fine build quality and the table mount does a fantastic job of holding it in place. the lap top mount is great but this steering wheel is really really powerfull and youll be fighting to keep it on your lap when the force feedback is on full cos it rips your arms off!. it really is great what they have done with it and initially i put off buying it because of the price but its worth every penny.
remember sega rally in the arcades all those years ago? well this does an even better job of replicating the feeling of the ground,it goes heavy at slow speeds on tarmac, grass makes it slip, gear changes 'clonk' through the wheel, jumps make the wheel go light and when u hit the floor it slams through the wheel, wheel spinning of the line rumbles the wheel and even pulls the wheel to the side depending on the power distribution and on forza every car genuinly feels different.
games that support this that are out right now are sega rally grid dirt pgr 3 and 4 and obviously forza 2. dirt is fantastic but its really sensitive but you can change the saturation settings to make it better, pgr 3 and 4 are perfect and grid, well thats the one let down.the game is set to 100% saturation from the start and its just impossible to drive. really really twitchy.i havent played forza 2 for months but when i had this wheel last week it has breathed new life into my games.
one niggle is a slight buzzing sound coming from my headset when playing on line (fault?) could be just my one.think i might pick up sega rally, then all i need is some 14 year old chav staring over my shoulder and it will be like old times again!!
(UPDATE 1)sega rally rocks with this wheel and sucks with the joypad!)
(UPDATE 2) im still alive,no burning to death for me so looks like all that nonsense is long gone! also i have used the wheel for hours apon hours and its still in mint condition,no loose parts so well built.
(UPDATE 3) finally got GRID set up fairly decent! all the tinkering has paid off, its still a bit twitchy but playable
(UPDATE 4) DIRT 2 is a VAST improvement over GRID when using the steering wheel. with the saturation set to 100% and the linearity set to minus 5, the game is fantastic!!
finally if there is any other game you want to know about regarding compatibilty with the wheel and how it handles, leave a comment and ill get back to you! enjoy!
(SORRY!) thinking about it,(thanks Lee!) i shouldve put something about the pedals in the review. the best thing about the pedals is unlike all previous ones on the market, they actually have a 'cut out' in the base for your feet to go in. what this means is there is actually plastic behind your heels, which is comfortable and keeps them in place. i have wooden flooring at home and this even keeps them in place on that floor! they are spring loaded, with great spring back, are responsive AND the acelerator pedal even has a fancy, max power sort of metal looking cover which is ace. also they are really long, which is perfect for my size 12 feet...lol
ps. ill add what i think of forza 3 with the wheel in a few days, as ive only been playing it for 2 days, all i can say at the moment is WOW, its shocking. simply breathtaking how good it is.

Good wheel!, 18 Feb 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
After buying this a few days ago, I've pretty much spent the whole weekend playing with it, and I have to say it's a great wheel. It does take a while to get used to, but I already couldn't imagine going back to using a gamepad to drive.
The wheel is at it's best when clamped onto a table, but it is VERY usable on your lap too which was a nice surprise.
The force feedback is very strong and definitely adds to the enjoyment of the experience. Going offroad feels like going offroad, and when going round a corner, you can feel when the car is about to lose traction and skid so you can correct it before it happens.
Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend this wheel to anyone with an interest in driving games.

Simple yet perfect, 15 Feb 2008
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
just got the steering wheel after waiting months for the rerelease. after inspecting it i started to notice that its built quality was very high, the design is simple yet very effective. unlike most other steering wheels out there when you turn the wheel a little bit the car turns a little bit, instead of full locking you into the crash barrier and forcing you to crash the steering wheel into a wall in your living room. the 270 degree turn angle makes for more twisting and fun. the pedal base was even perfect, with a notch cut out for your heels to go in so unlike other steering wheels the pedals dont end up across the room. also the force feedback is very nice, providing to doesnt set me on fire! well i wouldnt go that far but im sure microsoft have cured the problem (fingers crossed) but yes the feedback makes the wheel, you so much as clip the apex your finding yourself in a big stugle with a bit of plasic sat on your lap, but you dont see it as that, i have even put my hand down the side of the chair looking for the gear knob it was that realistic. so, if you are the kinda person who likes playing need for speed then maybe the wheel is not for you, but if you are a serious fan of motorsport such as forsa, or even PGR, then this IS for you. il let you know if there is any small fires in the next months but im pretty trusting that a company like microsoft can take care of a minor problem like that. all in all 9.8/10 (the 0.2 is becouse i wanted a 6 speed gear stick instead of flappy paddles but i want to much!)
