Synopsis

In A.W.O.L., Lyon Gaultier (Jean-Claude Van Damme) deserts the French Foreign Legion in North Africa when he learns that his brother in Los Angeles has been seriously injured. Fleeing from the Legion's Security Forces, Lyon turns to the illegal, bare-knuckle underground fighting circuit to raise the money he needs to help his brother's family.

I am a huge Van Damme fan and was pleased to see this movie re-released.Sunil R Shah and Imperial Entertainment should be praised.
The above paragraph is what I would have liked to have written but am unable to due to the unexpected horrific transfer,it is no better than a VHS,it isn't even widescreen and to top it all off,there is no information on the box to let you know this.So what is the point?, you might ask,well I am asking. WHAT IS THE POINT?? Avoid and wait for someone to bring out a release worthy of buying. Fullscreen,who are they kidding!?!? The fans deserve more than a grainy Van Damme!! Setting your tv to 16:9 and watching it only stretches the image,so that's no good. It is the 21st century,VHS quality ain't gonna cut it.
I recently watched Bloodsport on DVD which had an infinitely better picture so there really is no excuse.

This is definitly some of Van Damme's (of the movies I have seen with him) best movies.The only one I can think of which compares to this is Double impact.Van Damme plays Lyon,a guy who escapes the Foreign legion to help his recently deceased brothers family and has to enter underground illegal fighting competitions to make money.

The only thing I can say I hate about this movie is that he doesn't ever exact revenge on his brothers killer.Other than this minor flaw the action is top notch and the fight scenes are fun and brutal.Buy it,it's well worth the money.

i think this is the best van damme film ever . good plot good actin by van damme and the fights get better and better. i saw this film on tv but wanted it on dvd and got it. van damme character hears his brothers been burnt to death and he gets to america by any means to try and see him. seems hes in the leigon. when he gets there hes too late and realizes his family needs money to pay medical bills so he enters the world of illegal street fightin to raise money until a plot twist at the end . if you like van damme if you like a good story and if you like good fightin get it. its awesome!
