Great 1 and 1/2 albums Arias & Religious works - love Popp and heard it so bought it straight away. Very much Popp at her best, was she ever anything else? (Well hardly ever it seems. The contrast between the opera arias of 1983 and the others of 1967 is most welcome. Sensitively played accompaniments and excellent reprocessed sound.

A toothsome selection of remastered tracks from this Slovakian lyric soprano, who died too early in 1993. She is as ever precise and mellifluous and expresses the emotion in the music directly without any diva-like pretensions. A great exponent of Mozart operas. Her Queen of the Night and Susanna are the best twentieth century performances bar none. Catch her on YouTube singing Dvorak and Smetana, but the sound isn't so good.
