Product Description

CD Description
Second effort from Welsh metalcore heroes follows 2005's 'The Poison', which has sold over a million copies worldwide. Produced once again by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend), this album sees them pulling out all the stops to deliver something bigger, better, harder, faster andmore melodic than anything they have ever done before - a slick, glossy and crisp take on classic metal which should endear them to fans of Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold. Includesthe title-track single.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, so it's not 'Master Of Puppets', 30 Jan 2008
By Matthew Jenkins (Bridgend) - See all my reviews

Firstly, I can't be the only one who remembers what mainstream rock was like ten years ago - metal was often ignored and derided by the rock press who fell in love with alternative, Nu-Metal and Brit Rock. So the possibility that BFMV could sell millions of albums can only be a good thing for all metal bands and fans alike.

Technically the album is brilliant - amazing guitar work and drumming with a very good production. But 'Scream Aim Fire' does sometimes sound a little too similar to Trivium. This is not the worst thing in the world but is basically just repeating the formula of combining the sounds and styles of vintage Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. And while some of the riffing is truly inspired, one or two of the songs do start to sound a bit laboured in places. Maybe a more sustained aggressive vocal style would have actually helped to prevent this from happening, as the lyrics and vocals are the weakest part of this album. The lyrics are best described as cliched, even a little embarrassing sometimes. Matt Tuck's vocals are not the strongest and can let the songs down (as I've mentioned previously), Howard Jones (of Killswitch Engage) and Burton C. Bell (of Fear Factory) have shown how to combine melody and aggression within the same song, something that Tuck has yet to completely master. But in my opinion even the mighty James Hetfield struggled at times on the first two Metallica albums.

'Scream Aim Fire' is relatively commercial, but without ever sounding like selling out. While this appraoch to the album may not appeal to everyone there is certainly enough here to interest fans of bands such as Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Megadeth, Funeral For A Friend and possibly even My Chemical Romance (although this is by no means an 'emo' album).

Despite my criticisms I felt it too harsh to award anything less than 4 stars for this album as while it may be flawed it is still musically sound, and could very well stand the test of time. BFMV are only on their second full album and show more than enough potential to suggest that they can eventually find their own unique musical identity. This could well be the album that they had to make in order to discover that identity.

Album number three should be their defining moment.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Outstanding!!The boys from Wales still have it!!!, 6 Oct 2008
By J. Snook "trivium_89 - Anime Reviewer" (Wales) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having achieved phenomenal success with their fantasic debut 'The poison' album, it was hard to imagine that Bullet For My Valentine could produce another album of such a high standard. In my opinon, Scream Aim Fire is even better than their previous album and is probably the best Album I've heard this year. And no, this isn't a 'reflex review' I have been listening to this album since it came out in January and I am still in addicted to it. This CD is somewhat similar to their first album, however, you can tell that the subject matter of the songs is more mature now and that the style of music leans more towards a thrash metal influence this time.
Some people have critisised Matt Tucks voice in this album, well OK he did have throat problems, but his voice doesn't really sound as bad as some say. I'd say his voice does sound a bit deeper and rougher, but this goes well with their new style in my opinion.
Each of the songs on this album are fantastic:

1. SCREAM AIM FIRE- A great opener that really sets the tone for the album and gets you ready for the chaos that you're about to hear.
2. EYE OF THE STORM - Just listen to those riffs at the start, and then wait and get blown away by the guitar solo at around 2 mins 30.
3. HEARTS BURST INTO FIRE - A quieter song with another killer opening riff and great lyrics giving it an anthemic feel. I can imagine this one being good played live
4. WAKING THE DEMON - A heavy track with powerful shredding guitars and screaming vocals. But it also has a really melodic chorus to top it off. One of my fave tracks.
5. DISAPPEAR - Another belter of a song, kind of like this albums equivalent to 'suffocating under words of sorrow'
6. DELIVER US FROM EVIL - Probably the best song on the album, it has a slower pace, but it sounds really epic.
7. TAKE IT OUT ON ME - The first half of the song is heavy, but you need to wait until around 3 mins when it gets slower and it breaks into some amazing guitar riffs.
8. SAY GOODNIGHT - A slow starter, with a beautiful guitar solo and great lyrics that gradually gets heavier until it breaks into a chaotic array of guitar shredding and screaming.
9. END OF DAYS - A heavier song, with excellent screaming vocals and a catch-as-hell riff throughout.
10. LAST TO KNOW - Another heavy one. Not the best on the album though, but still a great track
11. FOREVER AND ALWAYS - A slow song throughout with some nice guitar work, however, this is the weakest song on the CD in my opinion. And it can't compete with the last song off the poison album 'The End' (Helluva finish to an album)

So if you're a fan off metal music and great melodies, and you're looking for something to blow you away, then you need to check out Scream Aim Fire NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scream Aim Fire - Pleasantly surprised, 15 May 2008
By B. Pitelen (Herts, UK) - See all my reviews

Having read the mixed reviews about this album i was in two minds whether to buy it however being a huge fan of their last album 'Poison', i thought why not. From the off this album is full with stunning guitar playing for their young years with monster riffs throughout much like the previous album.
The drumming is equally superb and together with the standard BFMV screaming vocals this is a truly excellent album, the more you listen to it the better it gets.
I'm a fan of all metal bands so long as its structured and not just a mish-mash of noise, Scream Aim Fire has been very well written and is full to the brim with outstanding guitar work from Padge and is worthy of the 5 star rating.
You'll be humming 'Heart Bursts...' for the rest of the day.

A must buy for Bullet fans and newbies alike.
