Synopsis

All is not well on Thundera. As the dying planet begins to crumble, its desperate inhabitants flee aboard their spacecraft. On the way, they are attacked by evil mutants, causing them to crash land on Third Earth. Their ship is destroyed, but thanks to Jaga's heroism, the surviving Thundercats emerge unharmed. Now, on a strange new planet, Panthro, Cheetara, Tygra, Wilykit, Wilykat, Snarf and Lion-O, guided by the Sword of Omens, face a whole new danger and must fight for their very existence. This box set contains every episode from Season 1 of the popular 1980s cartoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the Thundercats!, 16 May 2008

One of the best cartoons of the 80s with one of the best theme songs... and Cheetara, all in one duper box-set. It just doesn't get any better than this. Season 1 isn't as developed as 2, so it may not be *quite* as good as you remember - it may seem a little more amateurish, perhaps - but this is still better than 99% of the detritus that passes for "cartoon" that's being made today, and it'll whip you back to your childhood wihin the first 20 seconds.

Sit down with this, an after-school snack and you'll grin like a loon. I certainly did.

Shortest review ever, I know but c'mon! It's the Thundercats!

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect example of why 80's cartoons are the best., 6 Sep 2008
By Mr. T. E. Watts "tom61409" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

Thundercats was and still is such an awesome 80's cartoon series, for me it is a wonderful combination of sci-fi,fantasy,magic,myth,action and adventure.
There were many great episodes and maybe just a few bad ones such as Terror Of Hammerhand and Mandora: The Evil Chaser, the extra features are hit and miss, particularly the rather corny and dull Fans Speak Out interviews where Will Wheaton from Star Trek TNG says he can't remember Slythe's name, hahahahahaha, and the interesting Behind The Scenes documentary.
But like myself, you won't be buying this for the bonus features, you'll be buying this to relive your childhood.
Thunder,Thunder,Thunder,Thundercats Ho!

4.0 out of 5 stars You had me at Thunder........., 15 Feb 2008
By Andrew Young (UK) - See all my reviews

Lets face it, if your looking for a cartoon that will give you belly laugh upon belly laugh this isn't it, its one of those lets teach the kids a lesion cartoons that dominated the 80's but don't get me wrong this is pure genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Granted at first you will be constantly questioning why is Lion-O the only Thundercat to show any signs of aging during the journey, and why did Wilykit and Wilykat not age any, you will also be racking your brain trying to recognize the voice of Lion-O before it dawns on you its Fred off of Scooby-Doo.

But put all this to one side and you truly do have an enjoyable box set, granted the mutants run off after a couple of seconds of fighting and Lion-O does come across as a bit of a jerk, but you wont have bought this for the intellectual content, have you!

As a kid I always remember Panthro as my favorite, he's hard he can make anything you want from a scrap piece of metal and a have eaten cheese and pickle sandwich, but I must admit Tygra is the legend of the show. He is soooo laid back you start to wonder what he has been smoking, if any thing goes wrong or if anyone goes missing, he can be heard uttering "it will be ok, just leave it" its as if he really doesn't give a crap. Its great.

I must admit don't get this if you have never seen it before, but if you fancy a trip down memory lane, and you have like minded mates who wouldn't mind watching this over a few beers then go for it, what are you waiting for.
