5.0 out of 5 stars Live at the Astoria, 8 Mar 2008

I have to say Black Stone Cherry are probably one of the best bands i've heard in a good few years. They have an amazing sound with a heavy southern influence that is reminiscent of both Led Zeppelin and AC/DC but with their own unique twist. This limited edition live CD is excellent and the double album has a great selection of tracks from their first album, such as the storming 'Lonely train', as well as covers like 'Voodoo Chile' and an album highlight 'Folsom Prison Blues'. You can really tell that the audience was into this gig and their reaction, along with the bands playing, make for an incredible album and one that is well worth tracking down. My only criticism is that the packaging doesn't have a set list so you have to know their music to work out the track titles, but that is a very minor fault when the music is this good. I love this band and recommend any of their stuff to everyone, highly HIGHLY recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best live band touring at the moment, 12 Nov 2007

I saw BSC in Bristol only last month and they nearly blew the roof of the place. For a very young 4 piece band they are very accomplished rockers who can grab a crowd by the throat and force everyone to have a rockin' time. Imagine Zakk Wylde getting drunk with AC/DC while listening to Led Zep and you're almost there. The gig I saw was pretty much the same set list as this (what do you expect from a band with only one album) but what a blast of a setlist it is!!!

From the crushing opener "Rain Wizard" through a great cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", steaming past the staple of Scuzz TVs "Lonely Train" and detonating the stage with a whiff of Jack Daniels and buckshot with "Shooting Star" and "Maybe Someday" this set is heavy, southern tinged rock that doesn't let up.

A immense live album from a band with the whole world at their guitar-string blistered fingertips.

first things first it's been a while from my last review, but a big thanks to concert live for the quickness of this exellent cd bieng delivered would recamend buying from them anytime no hassle at all.
black stone cherry r well on thier way to bieng the next led zeppelin thier heavy, strong, loud energetic to the max and this album (2 cds worth) is this band at their live best, its the album plus some nice covers an excellent homage to the late johnnie cash included and you can feel the rawness of the night anybody that was there well done to have survived.this band are on their way to greatness can't say that enough,if u manage to get this cd headphones r a must sit back and be blown away.
the only thing now i hope the next album rocks the place to foundations but you know it will.and lastly i hope they tour soon up here in sunny scotland,so i'm off to let my ears bleed again, cheers.
