Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

LX Series Home Cinema System with Omni-Directional Speakers

Originally designed as the ideal home entertainment companion to our KURO TV's, the LX01 is a 250GB hard disk drive DVD recorder with integrated digital DVB-T tuner, HDMI with 1080p scaling and a 400W digital power amplifier. The system is a powerful, beautiful addition to your living room.

Omni-directional speaker design
The LX01 has 2 combined front/centre speakers and 2 rear speakers; each of which has a distinctive 3-dimensional shape.

Conventional speakers generate directional sound, whereas these 3-dimensional speakers generate sound fields in all directions. The effect is very similar to musical instruments being played in a live performance.

Powerful sub for a fuller sound
The LX01 subwoofer-receiver is also unique in design. It has dual-drive subs, which enable more powerful handling of lower frequencies.

In total the LX01 is a high-power 8-channel system; the front, centre, rear and subs each have 2 dedicated channels. A full, rich surround sound is guaranteed.

Premium DVD recorder with 1080p output
Besides being a fully-fledged DVD recorder with GuidePlus+ Electronic Programme Guide, the system will play every kind of commercially available CD and DVD, as well as most compressed media formats.

The system also has an extended Music Library feature; you can store your favourite tracks and albums on the hard disk. The LX01 will also automatically add track and album titles (it uses the Gracenote CDDB database); a convenient and time-saving feature.

You can copy CDs to the hard disk at maximum 16 times the normal speed; and at the original LPCM quality (that means that none of the original sound quality will be lost). Additionally, you can also upload digital images or compressed audio files at high speed, from disc or via the front-in USB host. Connecting a home PC (running Windows Media Player 10 or later) via USB, for transferring audio files directly on to the LX01 hard disk, is easy.

Last but not least you can connect your Blu-ray Disc player via HDMI and the LX01 will not only turn into a Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD capable amplifier, but swiftly pass on the 1080p / 24 Hz video on to your flat screen TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home Cinema, 7 April 2009
By Raymond Elliot (Fife, Scotland) - See all my reviews

Pioneer LX-01 - LX Series 8.1ch Home Cinema System with Omni-Directional Speakers - Black When I received this product and opened it, I thought it would take a lot of working out, where all the cables fit and all the links to each of the units and television. But once I had it all together and cables tidied away and up and running it was worth the money. Not sure if I would have paid any more than £1000.00 for it. Amazon.co.uk were offering the best deal, so I snapped it up.

I have it connected to my Pioneer 42" KURO TV which gives the Pioneer LX-01 outstanding picture & sound quality. The machine upscales both your old DVD's and Television recordings, how I know is I contacted PIONEER.

I was looking to do an add on by purchasing the Pioneer BDP LX-08 just to complete the whole package of having Blue Ray as well, but because of the price I will have to leave it for now. If you can afford it, look at the Pioneer LX-01BD, this gives you the total package without having to purchase an add on.

If you are really into you films and tv you will certainly enjoy this system.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ouch!, 21 Jun 2009

Second try at review, hope this gets published!
Well, theres no doubt that this system performs GREAT! But it is well rocket science. The programing of what to transfer to the TV screen and the pass through of scart and the selection of what media to record on to the hard drive selection. The remote has buttons and an iluminated centre control with more touch sensitive selectors than you can hit with a stick and names of presses like p.ctv??????? and "line" and stuff - ohhhh! combined with the external remote push buttons, I'd like to meet the bloke who invented this! It has taken me a month to get less than half way there and when I get more time i will engage the manual and fathom out the multi functions I have inherted to just watch telly.
When I get to that pinnacle I will have a system to beat all others. I just got to do a home degree in "remote" first, if I can spare the time
A great home system, but you will have to be prepared to do the homework

4.0 out of 5 stars Switching problems, 26 Nov 2007
By Peter Sarkany "dragon" (Budapest, Hungary) - See all my reviews
Two problems when using PDP-508D and LX01 together:

1. LX01 can not be controlled by the PDP508D's remote despite of the manual's description (p.69).
2. When powering on the LX01, it forgets to switch the HDMI input to the HDMI output even if it was switched off in this state. So when swithcing on the whole system, just a dark screen can be seen, since nothing is output to the TV's HDMI input.
Quite a shame for Pioneer.
