1.0 out of 5 stars If you're a Highlander Fan, just dont waste your life!, 9 Jun 2008
By James Howarth - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This film is awful, you watched expecting answers, what you got was an ending obviously written by an idiot who had obviously never seen the other movies, this film is beyond terrible, it does not honor the original beginings and the ending will leave you feeling angry and ripped off.

I hope that they decide to disown this movie in the same same way that they did with Highlander 2, so that someone can produce a film with a fitting end for a story that originally started so well.

1.0 out of 5 stars 'Highlander: The Suffering' more like!, 13 Jan 2008
By M. S. Skidmore (Kinver, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Imagine a world where there's only one Highlander movie. You know the film; made in the mid 80s by an Australian director, starring a French guy partnered with the that bloke who used to be James Bond. Now, try to keep that world in your head at all times . . . no matter, how many times you see the words 'Endgame', 'The Sorcerer', 'The Final Dimension' or whatever rubbish they call them in your video store - remember there is only one . . . because, if you do - you can skip mindless, empty tosh like this 'new' entry in the franchise that not only makes a mockery of the central idea, but puts (another!) final nail in the coffin of this terrible saga . . .

In this latest adventure of Duncan McCloud (a bored Adrian Paul, who deserves much better) we catch up with our hero as he begins a quest for 'the source' - an unexplained myth that may hold the key to the immortals origin and save a crumbling world. Aided by a group of fellow immortals, McCloud is hunted by 'The Guardian' (think the Kurgen, played by a dimwit) who is intent on protecting the source at whatever cost. Well, I think that was what it was about.

Because, after 80 minutes of awful green screen visual effects work, silly dialogue and terrible acting - I wanted to give up the will to live and asked my wife to cut my own head off, so I wouldn't force us both to sit through these pointless sequels time and time again. To be honest, I didn't think anything could get any worse than the dull pantomime effort that was 'Highlander: Endgame' but this one takes the series to an all new low. Director Brett Leonard (didn't he used to direct proper movies?) totally blows Highlander lore by introducing new themes and ideas that frankly don't work and the cast are asked to speak stupid lines that only further an already pointless plot. This is a shame really. From my comments, you may think I hate Highlander, but the truth is I am big fan (heck, I don't hate 'Highlander 2'!!!) and have followed this series since 1986. However, since Christopher Lamberts' departure - it just seems the producers are trying to turn it into a Sci-Fi Channel movie of the week and not the film series it once was. Granted, Adrian Paul is pretty good when he has something to do, but even he appears lost in this mindless exercise. Sheesh, I was even wishing Mario Van Peebles would have turned up at one point to at least give the movie some life . . .

Momentums' disc boasts a sharp transfer with excellent audio. The making of is pretty standard and you also get the trailer for the film and game. However, the movie is so poor - nothing could save it. Rent if you must, but oh, do not buy...

1.0 out of 5 stars This stinks!, 11 Jan 2008
By Andrew Hill (Warrington, Cheshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Incoherent gibberish, poorly acted, appalling script, weak action, shoddy effects, the least convincing screen villain of all time - this film is so bad it makes Highlander II look good!

Avoid at all costs, I want the 86 minutes of my life spent watching this dross back.
