Synopsis

Witness the ultimate subjugation of a woman to serve the most twisted desires of man in the achingly hip 'n' horny Femina Ridens, where the kinkiest urges are played to a deadly conclusion…

The beautifully sensuous Dagmar Lassander stars as Maria, the living sex toy of Dr Sayer (Philippe Leroy) who delights in killing women at the point of orgasm. Sayer's prolonged campaign of degradation pushes Maria right to the edge of death but the spell she casts on him will lead to the most extraordinary climax of a lifetime!

Stylish, imaginative and deliciously twisted, this kitschy 60s pop art erotica-fest boasts gorgeous set design, an even more alluring leading lady and a heady desire to please the viewer with increasingly bizarre and dangerous sex games.

4.0 out of 5 stars the best edition of this movie , 26 Sep 2008
The Frightened Womman has been restored by Shameless to give us the longest version ever and it comes with the directors seal of approval who claimed "This is the version of my film to watch."The dvd has been put together from various elements and so the picture quality varies , though for the most part the picture is very good. The dvd is 16:9 enhanced and the only extras are the trailer and trailers for other films.

So is the film any good? Yes, it has grooovy 1960s production design and the story is quite good. The performances of Phillip Leroy and Dagmar Lassander are very good and the film is full weird little touches that add to the entertainment value . The music soundtrack is good too. Shameless are doing a great job and this is one of their best realeases so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 60's imaginary, 12 Feb 2009

This film is a typical 60's product. This couldn't have been made in any other period than from 68 to 71. Just like Modesty Blaise or Barbarella. It is alienated and incomprehensible at times, but who cares if you get an eye-candy like this on yout tv. I don't even want to start talking about the plot, but that much I can say that evil gets it, just like it should. So if you want to get piece of the 60's, get this DVD and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Classy, 3 Sep 2009
By DAVID CRUSE (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This film may be a bit long in the tooth but still oozes class, especially the leading lady, who after being kidnapped and tormented by her captor gets her revenge. If you like retro you will like this. Nice twist at the end also. Watchout for the leading lady doing a dance for her captor wearing a dress made of bandages, the whole scene unravels before you. It is not going to be everybody's cup of tea and there is some slightly dodgy acting in parts, but still worth a watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frightened Woman
This is quite a good DVD, but not quite as frightening as the title would suggest.
