4.0 out of 5 stars WWF Attitude Era : The Best years, 12 Mar 2008
By B. Pegg (Buckinghamshire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Finally The 99/2000 royal rumble has been released on Dvd and it is one of the very best. The Attitide Era was the most exciting time for WWF since the early years when Hulk Hogan, British Bulldog, Bret Hart and Ric Flair were the top stars.

The 99 rumble includes a briliant WWF Title match no holds barred between The Rock and Mankind, where Mick falls off the balcony after a right hand from The Rock onto the electrial circuit board, which turns out the light in the building for a few moments, and after The Rock hits Mankind over the head with a chair 15 times, he says I Quit.

The rumble itself is a good one, with Mr McMahon a suprise winner after The Rock distracts Steve Austin and he dumps him out!!!!

The 2000 rumble starts with Kurt Angle fighting a mystery opponent...a big noise when ECW's Tazz comes out and suplexes the hell out of Angle and chokes him out!!!
The 2000 rumble includes a Street fight for the WWF Title with champion Triple H defending against Cactus Jack, a brutal match which includes baseball bats wrapped in barb wire and thumbtacks!!!
The rumble match is even better than 1999 with The Rock winning eliminating The Big show, although Rocks feet touched first!!!

All in all a very good buy

5.0 out of 5 stars Great D.V.D., 19 Sep 2009
By Mrs. G. M. Davey - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a fan of the WWF, especially the Attitude Era, I would say that these two P.P.V.s are excellent. First of all, Royal Rumble 1999 features the "I Quit" match between The Rock and Mankind. This match is by far one of the best I've ever seen, as it is very brutal and violent. The Royal Rumble itself is very good, especially near the end. The rest of the matches are also worth your time, particularly Road Dogg vs. Big Bossman. Royal Rumble 2000 is also brilliant, specifically the Tag Team Tables Match and the Street Fight. All in all, I would say this is definitely a must-buy for wrestling fans of the 1997-2001 period.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth your coin !, 29 Nov 2007

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
These tagged classics are a great thing indeed, two events on the same release, here we get royal rumble 99 and 2000,both of these i have on video but its nice to now own on dvd for a great price.
This was the attitude era of the wwe, vince mcmahon was the figurehead of hate and his war with stone cold steve austin featured heavily here. The royal rumble match itself was nowhere near as predictable as many had thought and that is a good thing. The undercard was solid and the i quit match between mankind and an evil the rock was hard to forget, the blood flowed, mankind in handcuffs and the rock smashing his brains in makes for good or bad entertainment depending on how you view it.
One year later and we were all back again, some fine matches in the undercard but some of the matches although decent were too short and smacked of time wasting, the bikini contest put womens liberation back a hundred years but in the end mae young at the ripe old age of 77 appeared and made it comical so that balanced it somewhat.
The streetfight between triple h and cactus jack ie mankind, was very good, bloody as hell, maybe not as good as the i quit match the year before but very good all the same.
The rumble itself did feature more garbage than the year before in term of its entrants but flew by so fast i was shocked and the outcome was very good indeed.
Not 100 perecent perfect prehaps but wwe know how to put on a show, dont pretend these dont exist. Thanks
