It offers an HDMI interface, with HD upconversion ouput resolutions of 720p, 1080i, and full 1080p. This DVD player is everything it claims to be, but, it is let down slightly by the Remote Control usually only working when the DVD player has been on standby. Apart from this all is good. It was simply a case of unwrap the parcel hook up to the t.v. and you were away. Quite simple.

Did require some adjustments to work with my Panasonic 42PV7 to get acceptable deep black levels (i.e. LOTR). Seems to look best in 1080i, not 1080p. Many cheaper upconverting DVD players looks great in foreground details, but have large "fuzzy/smeared" areas in the (less noticeable) background, but the Oppo DV981HD is sharp and calm all over the screen. Terrible setup menu though.
