For Villa fans of a certain vintage this DVD is a must-have. No Villa DVD collection is complete without it.

The footage contains goals that you have probably never seen before. We all tend to forget exactly how little football was on TV in those dim and distant days.

This is a chace to relive Morely at Everton; Sir Dennis against the redscouse and yet another double over the Blose.

What cherished memories are re-created from this DVD.

I'm not a Villa fan, but their League Championship win in 1980/81 is arguably the greatest within living memory. For a start, they only used 14 players in the 42 games. Furthermore, their side did not contain any established internationals.

There wasn't quite the TV coverage back then as there is now, but the compilers have unearthed 25 of the 42 games from the BBC and ITV archives. To their credit they've even included 4 defeats as well. A further 2 games were shown by the BBC but not included-a 1-0 defeat at Brighton and 0-0 draw v WBA.

Includes interviews with 8 of the squad who also went on to further glory in the European Cup the following season.

The DVD is well over two hours and is not just some repetitive highlight match by match rundown. Yes, it does follow the matches as the season progresses but it intersperses the highlights with interview clips on said matches from Villa greats as they are now.

Tony Morley and Dennis Mortimer (now Mr. Soul Patch) are the best at expressing themselves but, boy oh boy, what happened to Gordon Cowans' face. It looks like he has two noses or some giant lump off the side of his nose. Plus you'd never recognize him as he looks sort of like Dr. Evil now.

This is not just for Villa supporters as that 80/81 side was one of the greatest champions of the English League ever. Just a joy to watch the way they stroked the ball about and I forgot how many clear breakaways Mortimer had and how clinical he was finishing those off.

If you wonder why England never won anything during the Liverpool, Forest, Villa European Cup era, look no further than the members of the Villa squad who never got much of a look-in for the national side.

Tony Morley should have won over 100 caps. There was more talent in his little toe than David Beckham has in his entire metrosexual body.
