Based on the DVD via the Dylan site., 2 Oct 2007
I saw this on bob dylans website and loved it. Therefore my appreciation of the music is undoubedly tempered by the excellent visual. Lets face it the original is 41 years old. GOD! Ta ta, ta ta, ta. [A really good version of this song is the one by Sue Foley on "Blues on Blonde on Blonde"].
If you get a chance skip the CD and get the DVD. The timeline linkage of Dylan is well done. The cinematography is great.I thought the Re-version had a good MODERN feel to it. I wish there were more updates like this. Like the cover too.

Buy it for the great live bonus track, 13 Oct 2007
The remix is fun, but after 4 or 5 listens, I don't care if I never hear it again. Easy on the ear but disposable. And I really would prefer it if the original version of Most Likely... wasn't included, because then I could leave the disc playing without having to hear the same vocal twice in a row.
The arrangement of the original version of Most Likely... may be a bit heavy-footed, but as a whole it has infinitely more charm than Ronson's immaculately sequenced new version. In fact, this remix project has greatly increased my appreciation of the old version, making me realise how much I prefer an organic Salvation Army rhythm to clubland beat conformity.
The live rendition of Down Along the Cove (from 2004) is excellent, featuring almost completely new lyrics, and a hard-rocking band. This track alone makes the cd great value.

Pointless, 26 Sep 2007
I've seen/heard a fair amount of Mark Ronson this year - who hasn't? - and have plenty of time for the "Caught by the fuzz" & most of "Versions". So I was intrigued when I saw this track listed. I don't know the backstory as to why Mark Ronson's doing a Dylan remix - sorry, "re-version" - but this has a half-hearted, dilettante feel to it. Sometimes listening to "Versions" I've found the MR approach - if in doubt, smear on brass section everywhere - can be formulaic. The decision to include the original does MR no favours at all, & emphasizes the "if it ain't broke..." pointlesness of the project. Fortunately, "Most likely..." is a strong enough song to withstand MR's predictable tinkering (yes, you guessed! horn arrangements, understated hip hop kick to rhythm track etc). Of course, Dylan's bulletproof these days, but can Mark Ronson be more than one of the year's passing fancies?
