DVD Description

Fingers On Buzzers is a multi-remote game for the entire family. Unlike previous DVD games, this pack contains the game plus four infra-red multi-buzzers, which are compatible with all DVD players. This means there will be no more passing around of the remote control as now you can buzz in against your family and friends! Whether you’re a bubbly kid, a surly teen, a hip dad or a groovy granny, the slick graphics, tongue-in-cheek humour and playability of Fingers On Buzzers means it's the ideal DVD game for anyone hungry to test their mental agility.

Fingers on Buzzers is easy to set up and instantly playable--be it in a head-to-head battle between two, or all four players in action at once. Each game starts with a simple warm-up round to get players used to the multi-buzzer functionality, with the comical voice of the quiz master there to guide you through the game. After that, you take on your opponents with randomly selected rounds of general knowledge questions in the categories of: entertainment; sport; observational tasks; snap and parlour games; and the 'brainiac' subjects of politics, geography and history. Winning players can then revel in their glory, as their own virtual characters celebrate and lord it over unsuccessful opponents. With such an enjoyable DVD game, it'll only be moments before all contestants want to start afresh with a brand new game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Played it twice so far, 2 Dec 2008
By Mrs. H. Kent "hazel kent" (UK) - See all my reviews

After reading reviews on these interactive DVD's I was expecting it to not work. However, reading the instructions and following them was really easy. I played it on our dvd/vhs combi player and it seemed to work fine. I was a little dismayed when one question was repeated within a minute on the first game I played but this didn't happen again so fingers crossed it was only a blip. I will say that the wires are really very short and so it's a cosy game for 4! The questions were across the board and so not bias towards films or music like some other games of this ilk. I played the short game both times as I was showing my neighbour and then a friend came over and I showed her. Both were fairly impressed and for less than £15, I believe it will make a bit of light entertainment while entertaining for the evening. The blokes voice can get a bit annoying after a while but I guess this is a fault with all these types of games. The controllers are a bit of a faf to get back into the box but they do go eventually for easy storage once you've found a rubber band to go round the box. Why they can't give the extra room I don't know! I would recommend this to anyone who is planning on entertaining over xmas with a few drinks. I would think it would be a good laugh.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better out there, 21 Jan 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Unfortunately, we couldn't get this game to work properly on any of the 3 different DVD players we have in our house, so had to trek to our friends house to steal theirs for an hour!

There are many reviews of this already, so I will just list the pros and cons as I see them:

PROS:
1. It's entertaining and fun if you are playing it as a bit of a background game to food, wine and company.
2. Repeating of past questions hasn't happened yet.
3. It all packs away neatly in a double sized DVD box.

CONS:
1. Leads for each of the 4 buzzers are too short, so be prepared to sit 'up close' to your opponents.
2. The transmitter does need to be fairly near the DVD player, so again not a lot of room for choosing your own comfort!
3. Very annoying music/video clip between rounds - it's funny at first, then just irritates more and more!
4. No provision for other opponents to answer questions you got wrong - it will only take the very first answer, whether it's right or wrong, so if your opponent gets it wrong and you get it right but they hit their button before yours, then their answer counts and your doesn't.
5. There is only a limited amount of time to answer each multiple choice question, so not so good for younger players who will take longer to read the question/answers and find the correct coloured button.

Absolutely fine for under £10, but I wouldn't pay anymore for it. It's a game that will be brought out now and again rather than frequently.

2.0 out of 5 stars Promises alot but doesn't hold up, 29 Dec 2007

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Received this in time for Christmas Day, and, after reading the blurb on the back cover was quite looking forward to playing it. The set-up of the buzzers was easy, although it took three goes for it to recognise the DVD remote control. The first gripe was the length of the wires for the buzzers, they could have been longer. The first game we played was the shorter one, and it had its moments, but I was disappointed that if someone picked the wrong answer it still went to the next question not giving anyone else a chance to answer the previous question correctly. I was also disappointed that it wasn't really 'Fingers on Buzzers' - I was expecting to able to buzz in then answer the question. The second time we played the longer game - which didn't really feel that much longer than the shorter game. Unfortunately even playing it twice questions were being repeated which was a shame. The 'lording it over other players with virtual characters' was also very disappointing and very repetetive.

All in all a disappointing game which is hampered by the simplicity of the DVD technology. It would probably be more fun if you had younger children, but in the end the new Nintendo DS Lite and a game of cards proved to be more fun, and this game will be relegated to a charity shop.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
The length of the cables makes this a very awkward item for four people to play in comfort - takes away the enjoyment.

Nice product, although setup instructions could be a little clearer. The questions could be a little more difficult, but it's fun and it works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun :-)
This adds a twist to the interactive DVD quiz - instead of fighting over the remote control, you have a remote control each, provided in the pack, to answer your questions. Read more
