Video Description

Naked Boys Singing! The title says it all! Caution - and costumes - are thrown to the wind in this musical revue featuring an original score and a handful of hunks displaying their special charms as they celebrate the splendors of male nudity in comedy, song and dance. Naked Boys Singing! went 'full-frontal' at Los Angeles' Celebration Theatre in 1998. Since it's raucous debut the revealing review has dropped its drawers for eager audiences around the world.

Synopsis

The men of NAKED BOYS SINGING! combine perfect pipes and built bodies for this on-screen adaptation of the hit stage show. This musical features these all-singing, all-nude men performing a variety of songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the full spark, 4 Feb 2008
By A. Metcalfe (Dundee, Scotland) - See all my reviews

On one level, this is "cute" - lots of very pretty men, mostly undressed, good voyer material. And the show itself does attempt to put many issues facing gay men into the arena, in an often quite humourous way: how guys will eye each other up (and compete!) in the gymn, the longing for an intimate connection, even a perky little pornstar from Illonois. The main gripe is that filming a live show, no matter how fancy the camera work, doesn't quite have the impact of seeing it in the flesh (no pun intended). The music etc is very "typical broadway show" style and somewhat predicatable: I was debating if it deserved a two star rating rather than three, but it does give a few laughs and is quite entertaining, even it it doesn't quite get there in the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin!, 10 April 2008
Ok so this isn't doesn't exactly have the highest production values but it definitely one of the most fun and original musicals I've ever seen. The naked novelty does wear off fairly soon into proceedings but when you've got a cast this hot prancing about the stage in their birthday suits you can be sure that your attention never drifts! Many of the songs are hilarious with, great, catchy melodies and all of the performers really are at the top of their game. Don't go expecting too much and you're sure to enjoy this hilariously innovative musical!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing!!, 23 May 2008
By W. Robertson (Edinburgh, Scotland, UK) - See all my reviews

If this material had been presented with performers in clothes, no one would have given it a second look, or listen. It is not musically entertaining, not culturally endearing, not cleverly staged, and left me wondering what low level have we fallen to, if this is what passes for gay entertainment nowadays!! The cast are talented - yes, and do look good without clothes it has to be said, but that is all that can be said of it - apart from - NEXT!!!!!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Yawn
Unlike my fellow reviewer, I have decided to be harsh and go for 2 stars here. My finger was on the 'skip forward' button on my remote far too much for me to be any more generous... Read more
