Product Description

THE LEGENDARY FINAL SEASONS OF GENERATION ONE The American Transformers cartoon might have ended after four seasons - but in Japan, they had many more stories to tell! First came THE HEADMASTERS - featuring new friends, new foes and many familiar faces, as Fortress Maximus and Scorponok lead the Autobots and Decepticons in an epic war that stretches across the galaxy and back again! Next, came SUPER-GOD MASTERFORCE, an exciting and different adventure that introduces the Pretenders, and turns human beings themselves into Transformers as Headmaster Juniors, and the most powerful super-robot lifeforms ever, the Godmasters! Then, VICTORY sees a return to classic robot-on-robot action, as the new Autobot Supreme Commander, the mighty Star Saber, leads his troops in battle against the forces of the Decepticon Emperor of Destruction, Deszaras! And finally, exclusive to this set, there's ZONE - a never seen on DVD before special episode that pits the Autobot Powered Masters and their leader Dai Atlas against a collection of the worst Decepticons in history! Now, you can enjoy all these unique Japanese Transformers adventures in one massive 110-episode collection! Plus, get the original experience through Japanese language presentations, featuring new English subtitles created specially for each set!

Synopsis

The American TRANSFORMERS series last for just four series but the franchise would carry on in Japan. These three Japanese series—THE HEADMASTERS, SUPER-GOD MASTERPIECE and VICTORY—are presented here in this conclusive TAKARA collection, along with ZONE - a special one-off episode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scammed... but Happy-ish., 18 Aug 2007
By Marcus Paul Sutton "Marcusimus Prime" (Suffolk, England.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Not so long ago, This Transformers fan forked out roughly £25 each for the 3 boxset's contained in this bigger boxset! Now that leaves me feeling like I was scammed. And especially as they've included another exclusive episode not available on any other of the sets. What do they expect?! fans to fork out another £45 for one more episode? No thanks!

But on a less annoying note. These series are fantastic, and to anybody who owns the American G1 series, I highly recommend getting this set. Although you'll have to be cool with subtitles.

the best of these series is quite easily Masterforce, however this is the most "anime" transformers has ever been. Headmasters isn't without it's charm though, it's got quite a bit of continuity with the original G1 series, including a lot of characters you'll regocnise. Such as Arcee, and Rodimus Prime. Victory is another good series, but it's not my favourite.

and what's more, in this set you're getting Zone as well. Bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but Metrodome should know better., 19 Jan 2008
By D. M. Monid "davidmonid1" (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As the title says, this set is god but Metrodome should have thought about this more clearily. This set is brilliant for those who haven't brought the Takara Collection yet, but for those who have and wanted to see Transformers Zone (which is featured on the 13th disk or rather the last Victory disk in this set only) you can't help but feel a little bit ripped off. They should have added Transformers Zone (which by the way has audio commentery from Transformers fan; Chris McFeely) on the last Victory disk on the seperate set, so that fans who brought the Victory set could at least see this OVA (Orginal Video Animation) for themselves, without resorting to buying this set as well like I did. Well the rest of the sets are the same as their orginal releases by Metrodome. Though Headmasters has the (dreaded) english dub plus episode scripts (DVD-ROM content), but also has the orginal Japanese version and English subtitles, the other two sets just have the Japanese version and English subtitles, and nothing else, apart from 3 audio commenteries per set by Chris McFeely. I think these sets in general could have been better, hopefully Metrodome should have lernt from this. But overall if you haven't brought the Takara Collection yet, then this set is actually better value then buying all 3 sets seperatily, plus you get Transformers Zone, so it is a bargain like it or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great series but shame on Metrodome, 13 May 2009
I brought all three series seperatly for between £15 and £40 each so was disgusted when Metrodome released this box set with the Zone episode on. But enough of my ranting on with the review.

Super God Masterforce is my favourite of all three series as it has a much more interesting plot and likable characters. Headmasters is okay but not quite as good. The only good things about Headmasters is the links it has to the original American series and also the unintentionally amusing English dub. It just a shame that Metrodome didn't put the dub on Masterforce and Victory as well as that would make the set complete. As for Victory I think its a good series but it suffers from the toy line released at the time. Star Saber and Victory Leo weren't the best toys ever released and their combination to form a whole new robot didn't do anything for me. The plot of the cartoon is good but not quite up to the standards of its predecessor. Zone however was just too short to be of any interest and it marked a disappointing end to the Japanese series.
