Album Description
The saxophonist Najee pioneered a blend of "rhythm and jazz" in the early days of the smooth jazz format inspiring the whole urban vibe that took over the instrumental world throughout the '90s. On `Rising Sun' Najee continues to explore new creative avenues by mixing up his trademark soulful soprano with dynamic touches of flute and alto, and surrounding himself with some of the best session players and collaborators in the business.

'Rising Sun' begins with a cover of John Mayer's "Clarity", features the vocals of Phil Perry on "Romance the Night", includes a couple of Najee and James Lloyd (Pieces of a Dream) co-penned tunes as well as a instrumental interpretation of James Moody's "Moody's Mood for Love".
