5.0 out of 5 stars More Heaven than Hell, 5 Sep 2007
By Mr. M. Thompson (Hull, East Yorkshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is what Sabbath and Dio fans have been waiting for! Excellent set list, including two new songs, faultless performances, a razor sharp picture (no false arty graininess, sorry Ronnie) and overwhelming 5.1 sound. I truely can't fault this release. Extras are a mixed bag with far too much film of Americans whooping and screaming things such as "Sabbath're da best maaan.."

5.0 out of 5 stars This mob rules!, 11 Sep 2007
By The Doctor (Ireland) - See all my reviews
Being the owner of a few less than flattering 'nostalgia rock' DVDs from heroes such as Blue Oyster Cult and The Tubes (oh Fee ... where did it all go wrong?), I questioned my motives for submitting my credit card details for another dust collector. I still felt uneasy when it arrived and I looked at the uninspiring cover - "Its only money" I said to myself. But it was money well spent.

I shall get my one gripe out of the way first in that E5150 doesn't link into Mob Rules which doesn't make sense to me as they are as inseparable as the Big Brother twins and After All is in a bit low a key for Dio's voice to shine from the start. But unlike many singers whose voice tires as the set goes on, Dio's just gets better and better! And what a set list ... its all here, brilliantly performed and with so much energy for a bunch of old geezers. Talking of geezer, Tony is in sparkling form, as is Ronnie and Vince, yet its Mr. Butler that steals the show. Vastly underrated (well by me anyway); his driving relentless bass runs copyrighting the term 'Heavy Metal' as his own. He is amazing to watch, but then so is the whole DVD.

By the time you get to Neon Knights (which brought back happy memories of a summer playing the single over and over again on the jukebox in Caister), you are left with a feeling of total fulfillment as if you were there and had a bloody good nights entertainment from a bunch of fossils that are old enough to be your grandfather!

So all you young rock and metal bands out there take note: buy this DVD and watch it over and over again. Learn from it.

THAT'S how you put on a show!

5.0 out of 5 stars The talent does not wither!, 10 Sep 2007
I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this film looks, sounds and how great the band perform. I only saw this band previously on the Black & Blue video from about 1980, and they are far better now! The band are in great shape and it is refreshing to hear these songs played again - and with so much passion. Dio is a phenominal singer, but it never sounded right him singing the "other" stuff. Rejoice in the fact that you won't have to hear/skip past "Paranoid" for the zillionth time!

Iommi is just incredible and continues to inspire with his ability. Vinnie Appice is also just so right for this material, and gets to let rip with a drum solo.

Well worth the money.

Whether you prefer Ozzy or Dio as Black Sabbath's vocalist, one thing is beyond doubt, Dio is the better singer, possibly the best Heavy Rock/Metal has ever had. Read more

I saw Heaven and Hell in Cardiff the other week and this is a nice "indirect" souvenir, as the stage set, performance and set list is exactly the same in this DVD. Read more
