Warner Home Video commemorates the 30th anniversary of "The King’s" passing with a collector’s Limited Edition 11-Disc box set and four Special Edition and Deluxe DVD releases, one of which is the iconic film Viva Las Vegas.
In this 1964 hit, Elvis plays race-car driver Lucky Jackson, who arrives in Las Vegas for an upcoming Grand Prix race. Lucky's car needs a new engine, so he gets a waiter job at a casino and starts working his crooning charms on Rusty Martin (Ann-Margret). The chemistry between the two actors makes it easily the most electrifying pairing Elvis ever had on-screen. Viva Las Vegas is one of the Elvis films that stands the test of time, when the legend was at his peak. For this Special Edition, the film is digitally re-mastered with exceptional sound and includes bonus features.
Synopsis
Elvis Presley is Lucky Jackson, an aspiring race car driver with a dream of winning the Grand Prix. Sexy, spirited Ann-Margret is Rusty Martin, a swimming instructor who falls for him against her will, and resents the idea of her man risking his life in a race car. As Lucky struggles to raise the money to buy a new engine, Rusty tries to convince him to give up the sport for her. George Sidney--a seasoned veteran of the lavish Hollywood musical--proves the perfect helmsman for this high-voltage Elvis vehicle. The King croons, shakes, and shimmies while Ann-Margret shows her mastery of 1960s-style gyrations in the glitzy, electric production numbers. The two charismatic stars are at their best during a hilarious first date, which includes dancing, motorcycling, dressing up at a Wild West show, skiing, and going for a ride in a helicopter. How could they not hit it off? Their powerful magnetism centres this glittering, extravagant treasure chest of a film that ranks among Elvis' best.
