Amazon.co.uk Review
JAG (Judge Advocate General): The Complete Second Season finds former Navy pilot turned JAG lawyer Harmon "Harm" Rabb (David James Elliott) partnered with an attractive marine attorney, Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie (Catherine Bell), in both the prosecution and defense of military service personnel charged with crimes. Helped by boyish, chipmunk-cheeked law student Lt. Cmdr. Bud Roberts (Patrick Labyorteaux) and guided by the tough but fair Admiral Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), Harm and Mac take on some pretty novel cases, beginning with the bizarre theft of the Declaration of Independence by Mac's own uncle, a renegade colonel trying to make a point about the fecklessness of the U.S. government. In "Secrets," a convicted spy (Victor Love) escapes from a Navy brig, taking Chegwidden--who successfully prosecuted him--hostage, and demanding that Harm and the others look into his allegation that the CIA set him up to look like a traitor.

Harm often gets assignments that require more than his legal-eagle skills. In "Washington Holiday," he's ordered to escort a Romanian princess (Kiersten Warren) through Washington while her father negotiates with the U.S. State Department for application to NATO. It's not an unpleasant task by any stretch, but it is perilous, considering an unidentified assassin is lurking around the nation’s capital, waiting to kill the royal daughter. "Cowboys and Cossacks" is a tense drama about two Cold War-era warship captains, an American and a Russian, who turn a joint war games exercise into a personal grudge match—with Harm, Mac, and Bud trapped as official observers. "Rendezvous" is an interesting story about professional ethics that pits Mac against Harm in a case involving a wife abuser--with Mac reluctantly providing the accused man, a monstrous fellow, her best defense. Created by Donald P. Bellisario (Quantum Leap), JAG is never dull and often surprising. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
Like a small-screen version of A FEW GOOD MEN, the television series JAG delves into the world of military justice with a stirring blend of action and drama. Created by TV stalwart Donald Bellisario (MAGNUM P.I., QUANTUM LEAP), the series follows JAG (Judge Advocate General) officer Harmon ‘Harm’ Rabb (David James Elliott) as he investigates and prosecutes military crimes within the Marine Corps and Navy. This collection presents all 15 episodes of the show’s second series, which introduces Catherine Bell as Harm's new partner, Marine Lt. Colonel Sarah ‘Mac’ Mackenzie.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all wrong, 4 Aug 2008
JAG is just wrong, it is cheesy American trash, cheesy actors and acting, the hunk and the babe and far-fetched stories. But I love it, can't explain why but I do.

I picked it up by accident because I liked NCIS. I watched a few and I was hooked, watching all of the series and never getting bored. Somehow they got the balance right, and as time goes on Harm's character fills out and I was so disappointed to run out of episodes. It is rare that a show gets the balance right and keeps on.

As for the Season 1 finale and Harm in handcuffs. Well that was never shown in the US, the show was cancelled before the episode was shown and so the season 2 made no reference to it, it was all forgotten about until a later episode when it is used as a flashback story.

At the end of the last season they tried out a new character with a view to replace Harm, a carbon copy of the series 1 Harm but 2nd time around the magic didn't work and thankfully the producers realised this and wrapped up the show with a proper ending rather than leaving it hanging.

All round a 5* TV series. I shall be buying the box sets and enjoy watching it all over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars J.A.G. season 2, 12 Sep 2007
I have always loved these type of shows CSI,NCIS,I have every boxset issued to date, however something has gone very wrong with J.A.G. season 2,I have had it preordered for quite awhile and it arrived today,I was absolutely ecstatic on it's arrival, however my happiness soon turned to sadness when I read the back of the dvd boxset, for weeks now I had been anticipating over 16hrs viewing of jag season 2 - but the back of the boxset states 667 minutes or 11hrs 7 minutes, when for weeks now it has been advertised as 970 minutes or 16hrs 10 minutes viewing time,I do not mind spending over £22.00 for 970 minutes viewing, but for 11hrs and 7 minutes £22.00+ is not on,I myself am requesting a full refund or better yet a boxset that advertises viewing time at 970 minutes like it should do.

yours - a true dedicated dissapointed fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Season 2 IS shorter. An answer to the previous reviewer, 24 Sep 2007
As JAG was cancelled after the first season and then "adopted" by CBS as a midseason replacement, season 2 is (and always was) shorter, if you are interested, you can read about this in something as simple as Wikipedia. I have preordered JAG season 2 myself, and in "product details" it always read 4 discs, 667 minutes. Sometimes they do mistakes, as claiming number of discs: 1 (like in Numb3rs season 1), instead of 6, but that's not the case here. If the price is the issue, well, I can't help, try region 1, if possible, you might get season 2 a bit cheaper, but NOT longer.
If (IF) they decide to release seasons 3, ..., you'll be getting your 900-1000 minutes again.
On the whole, the show is way too romantic/heroic for my taste, but nevertheless entertaining.
