5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Stuff, 27 Aug 2007
By Lynne Cameron "lynnecam" (Scotland) - See all my reviews

I love this series and hope the rest of the stories will be released on DVD shortly too. Sorry to see Malcolm go in this series but understood his reasons, I thought his practical jokes were very funny and brought some humour into what is a very hard and distressing job fighting fires.

there are great characters in this series and well played by the actors.Another favourite of mine is George and I like John as well Sicknote is hilarious

the series was very well made and congrats to the actors and people cameramen etc involved.

Great series and I was pleased Bayleaf was back on duty again albeit light duties at first. I was glad he got his daughter back also and has a good partner in Clare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Drama!, 11 Mar 2009
This is the fifth series, from the 1992 heyday of what (in my opinion) is ITV's best-ever action drama, "London's Burning". Touch-and-go fires and other incidents are interspersed with stories from the firefighters' private lives (without it ever seeming like a soap) and jolly japes like naming a Disney firefighter statue after the area commander!

The episodes feature a "dream team" of firefighters including Bayleaf (the sadly-missed James Hazeldine), Recall (Ben Onwukwe), Kevin (Ross Boatman) and Malcolm (Rupert Baker) in his last series - that's him on the left on the cover.

This series coupled the professional programme-making skills garnered from the previous four series with a big budget. The rave blaze or the crane suicide attempt (where the location of the disused (1900) Millennium Mills is seen over the wasteland future site of the (2000) Millennium Dome) could be taken from Hollywood films.

it also seems oddly old-fashioned - it's modern, but offers escape to a world without texters and twitterers!

One of the best!

Fans of Colin, will love seeing him finally getting his own back and becoming a full time fireman at last. Well acted, good fire scenes, well played everybody.
