Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

When a movie's main selling point is that it's really big and really loud, the soundtrack's got to keep up. But oddly, this CD falls short--tellingly, the first single is a power ballad by the Goo Goo Dolls, "Before It's Too Late", featuring the kind of emoting previously heard in Spider-Man's "Hero." The album's producers have mostly focused on arena guy rock circa 2007, with songs pulled from new or recent albums by the likes of Linkin Park or Taking Back Sunday. There should have been more tracks like the Smashing Pumpkins' rumbling juggernaut, "Doomsday Clock," Disturbed's compact "This Moment" or the Used's riff-a-rama "Pretty Handsome Awkward." Slightly surprising is the absence of electronics and hip-hop, the only exception (sort of) being Styles of Beyond's "Second to None," which sounds like the Beastie Boys on EPO, and Julien-K's "Technical Difficulties". While the big names are packed in the first two thirds of the CD, the last third serves as a showcase for upcoming bands (whose songs aren't in the movie) that sound exactly like their elders--glossy, huge, based on big guitar riffs. In the end, all this aggro energy feels more cosmetic and corporate than authentic. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Album Description

Fans around the world have clamoured for a Transformers
live-action movie for a long time. Now, directed by Michael Bay
(Armageddon, PearlHarbor, The Rock and Bad Boys) and executive produced by
Steven Spielberg, the sci-fi action-adventure flick Transformers, inspired
by one of the most popular toy lines in history, is set to become the box
office blockbuster of the summer.

The soundtrack will feature an incredible lineup of current Modern Rock and
Hard Rock Bands, including Linkin Park, Goo Dolls, Samshing Pumpkins and
many many more.... Anticipation for the movie is massive: the first day the
trailer debuted on Yahoo it received 1.5 million streams. To date it's been
seen over 8.3 million, making it the biggest trailer on Yahoo ever!

Transformers opens July 27 in the UK on thousands of screens nationwide. In
Transformers, duelling alien races, the Autobots and the Decepticons, bring
their battle to Earth, leaving the future of humankind hanging in the
balance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well...., 4 Aug 2007

This album is great! It wouldnt appeal to everyone, as it has a slightly metal feel to it, but for people who like that stuff... wow! the linkin park song, which is played at the end of the film compliments the tone of the film perfectly, and smashers like disturbed's this moment and the used's pretty handsome awkward should be sole reasons to buy this album.

3.0 out of 5 stars decent soundtrack shame about the last track, 21 Jul 2007
The soundtrack i felt failed to match the lofty expectations of the biggest film to date, firstly there are too many second tier metal/rock bands whose songs barely reflect what makes the battles between autobot and decepticon entertaining on this cd yet its saving grace is Disturbed's This Moment and HIM's passion killing floor but the main let down and the reason why i rate this album 3.5 is MuteMath's efforts on the Transformers Theme which is lame compared to Lions heavy effort on the original movie soundtrack.

overrall a decent soundtrack.
