Product Description

CD Description

Beta Male Fairytales' is the debut album from indie combo Ben's Brother. A mixture of pleasant pop and indie, this album is sure to appeal to fans of The Kooks and Stereophonics, and in lead singer Jamie Hartman they have a vocal comparable with Rod Stewart at his best. Includes the singles 'BeautyQueen', 'I Am Who I Am' and 'Rise'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sound, great melodies, good songwriting, 12 Aug 2007
This album captures the listener from the start, it sort of draws you in and is instantly calming, a great album to chill out to after a stress-filled day. The melodies are great, virtually every song is catchy and will be with you for days even after only one listen. The album is full of well-written tunes combined with good melodies and a great croaky-style voice, the overall effect works really well and the album flows majestically from one track to the next. Although this album is excellent there are a couple of dodgy tracks near the end of the album which really prevents the album from being of 5-star standard. I disagree completely with a previous reviewer, this is exactly what the british music industry needs, a band that writes and performs their own stunning ballads, what we dont need are more talentless pop groups and artists that emerge from talent shows and then disapear within 3 months, this group are here to stay.

5.0 out of 5 stars One in a million, 14 Aug 2007
Since seeing Ben's Brother at a gig recently I had to order my copy of the album immediately. They are an amazing live act and this is a fantastic album.

If I was forced to make a choice, my favourite tracks would have to be Let Me Out and God By Another Name, but it is a difficult decision because they are honestly all amazing.

Their music and lyrics are uplifting and inspiring to say the least and pick me up when I need a pick me up. It can also bring tears to my eyes ... absolutely amazing.

I don't like to make comparisons between music acts, but all I do know is that Ben's Brother are a true original and I'm a massive fan. I'm loving it so much and am so glad I've seen the band and got into them now as I know they are going to be HUGE. I'll be proud to say I loved them back in the beginning!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beta Male Fairytales - Ben's Brother, 4 Jul 2007
By Mr. J. ROSE (southampton, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
i saw Ben's Brother live completely accidentally when I went to see The Reservoirs (look out for Dan and the others soon!) play at The Joiners in Southampton a couple of months back... Ben's Brother were headlining and did steal the show (sorry Dan) with songs like Rise and Let Me Out sticking in the memory... the band were extremely tight and impressed with a tasteful live performance .... Jamie Hartman sang and played his 12 string Taylor in a beautifully understated way, while their lead guitarist selflessly supported the song before he let rip towards the end - v talented.... I spoke to Jamie after the show as they were packing up and complemented him on the arrangements, songs, etc. - he was v approachable and friendly - the sort of guy you'd like to get a pint with and have a proper chat...

then it's been a bit of a wait for the album, and people have just had the snippets on BB's myspace page to listen to in between ....

listening to it all again today, Rise, Beauty Queen and Let me Out are the standout tracks... I have to say that BB are different and comparisons to Travis (possibly Driftwood is a bit similar) and Stereophonics (maybe Carrot cake and wine) are mostly unfounded.

I do recommend this album - you will be humming 'Rise' for weeks, I guarantee it .... am predicting a decent length career for these guys - enjoy...
